Being offered in rifles form CZ and Howa already! :dancingbanana:

Won't be long before Remington and Winchester swallow their pride and stamp the Ruger name on their barrels, too.:p

:D
They might be better than Winchester or Remington BUT can they measure up to a Savage??

The long standing joke was that if you range tested a Ruger that printed < 3 MOA check the stamp on the rifle because the store probably put another make of rifle in the box by mistake. ;)

The only thing worse than a Ruger barrel is a Ruger factory trigger (like a fence post).

I've heard the same stories from people that don't know much about rifles, just repeat what they have heard.:p

Then I show them my targets...

Tod , any idea when the Winchester Safaris might be available ?

They look kind of interesting. Express sights, CRF and bigger barrels. I would have liked to have seen a stock design similar to the CZ's though. Also would have liked to have seen .416 Rigby instead of .416 Remington. It also seems like they will be the same price as the CZ550 Magnum.

no clue, sometime in 2010 Id guess. The availability of the newer Model 70's has been pretty poor.

Ive only owned one Ruger m77, I must of lucked out and gotten a good one. I think I have shot ten 3 shot groups and the average is right at 1". I suspect when its bedded in its new stock, with some handload development it may shoot even better :shotgun:

Looks like they they will be a bit lighter then the CZ ,dont see the harm in having a 375 Ruger and Winchester in the closet other then the pocket book:D

I will admit the .375 Ruger is the new King.

When more game has fallen to it than has to the H&H. :)

I watched the "used" shelves at a local gun shop for a good Ruger Model 77 (< 1.5 MOA) in any acceptable moose hunting caliber ( for me that would be in the range from .308 Win. to .338 Win. Mag.)

The store owner let me test shoot used guns I was considering purchasing.

I tried six candidates over the space of two years & finally culled one from the herd that would give me consistent < 1" - 3 shot groups @ 100 yds.

It was a stainless in .300 Winchester.

I pulled the offensively terrible factory fence post trigger & replaced it with a Timney fully adjustable trigger & gave the barrel a good scrubbing with a copper brush.

The groups finally settled in at around 3/4 MOA (3 shot groups) with an undisclosed load.

I've got a 3-9x40 Leupold perched on it and take it hunting a lot.......it has KO'd 3 moose so far.

The gun is relatively light despite being built strong like a tank, has Model 70-like controlled round feeding & a 3 position safety.

There are definitely good shooting Rugers out there hiding among the crowd.

The best policy is watch the second hand racks &, if the dealer will let you, test fire each one until "Mr. Right" reveals itself at the range.

They all look alike but they sure don't all shoot alike.......only the target paper can tell the shooters from the pretenders.

Last half dozen Rugers I loaded for gave MOA or sub MOA accuracy with no real trouble.

Like any rifle, adjusting the trigger and bedding made them better. OOTBA with the NEW KING and handloaded 260gr Accubonds was a nice cloverleaf.

Rugers shoot fine, most people that complain about them are thinking about a problem they had with outsourced barrels 3 decades ago...

....Big space...

Gatehouse must have missed your post.

If I may, allow me:

[gatehouse]" When teh NEW KING has ruled as long as teh old king, much more game will have fallen to its mighty power! ALL HAIL TEH NEW KING!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:[/gatehouse]

:p;)

That would make the most sense...After all, standard size actions is one of the very appealing aspects of the NEW KING.

My Browning Safari in 375 H&H is a standard size Mauser action, and other 375s I've had were on longer actions....all worked well and shot well so I fail to see the significance of that....

No it means thay have more money or are willing to spend more on a hunt because they hire a guide/PH...

Hunting with a guide/PH doesn't make one a good hunter like a couple guys that post here on CGNTZ that went on guided hunts this last fall for deer and brag that they got good bucks.

They are hiding that they were guided though yes some of us know you were guided... :p

Anyone can shoot it takes a true hunter to be able to get the entire job done by themselves anything else is just shooting a target.

This is getting a little off track, but although I have only hunted once with a PH, I will disagree that hunting with a guide is simply target shooting. If you work hard for your trophy, if you get fulfillment from the experiece, and if you are a passionate hunter, the presence of the guide takes nothing away from the experience. When my wife and I are hiking around here, very often it is she who first spots a bear. But from that point on what we do about it is up to me.

What are you trying to say? Spit it out....

Are you saying I went on a guided deer hunt? (I didn't, but even if I did, how does that fit into a thread about rifle manufacturers chambering THE NEW KING?)
