The new NR NoDak Spud NDS 18SC

1300 usd is over 1750 CAD
So.. no it’s not going to be UNDER 2k most likely.. after barrel and imports etc

We have bren 2 rifles that got that bill for you, for now

In a perfect world Irunguns wouldn’t be paying retail price for the upper. So if they purchased wholesale without barrel, and had Dlask install barrels I can’t see why $2k CAD couldn’t be met. Rifle without barrel wholesale cost likely 1000USD ish. Should be close to 2k- but they know Canadians will pay $5k for a semi auto, so that’ll be the price lol.

You're forgetting the part about the custom NoDak Spud NDS 18SC (or 180SC, whatever they decide to call it) lower that has the JAKL upper cut integrated into it. That is going to be an expensive low volume production for PSA that doesn't fit into any of their existing lineup of lower receiver productions. Nodak Spud's CEO, after the company was bought by PSA, has been put in charge of H&R and all the fairly accurate clone and retro line of stuff PSA produces (and Nodak Spud used to produce and almost had a monopoly over). AR-18/180/180b lowers were part of Nodak Spud's product lines, but this is a new thing entirely, and to get PSA to custom produce it for us is going to cost more than their run of the mill AR lowers. Even if irunguns were to get a discount on existing JAKL uppers, barrel or not, it would still not be able to get it to us for the same price as their mass produced JAKL rifles.

IMO, the way to realistically get to ~2K USD is as follows, but we're not getting this for $2K CAD no matter how much we bicker or pray, until and unless the 2020 OIC is repealed and we can have ARs and normal JAKLs. Just think about it, a Bren conversion cost $600+, you really think they'll charge less to put a NR barrel on a JAKL?
A normal complete JAKL from PSA costs $1300 USD today for the longer barreled models. Add $200 for the change from JAKL lower to NODAK lower, maybe another $100 for factory 18.5 or 20inch barrels. Add $200-$300 USD irunguns import premium, maybe another $100-$200 for the effort they've put into this for years, and if they can bring this in for just under $2K USD, it'll have a major market here in Canada, and would basically kill off most sub-$3.5K CAD cope-ARs. If they cut the cost even further below $2K USD, it'll sell tens of thousands, especially if they sell through their Canadian site, with all the fees already included in the price.

We are missing the mark. Whole point of this project was to avoid canadian manufacturing. I wish IRUNGUN could have brought scar 20 with different lower or something. Willing to pay premium on it. I don't see it will be a much success unless dlask uses premium blank barrels. Don't have any experience with dlask products but back then ATRS barrels were worth every penny.

Not sure where ya got under $2k from, I said under $2500. Given that the JAKL retails for $1300 USD, assuming that IRG are getting a "deal" on rifles with no barrels ($900USD?), knowing the Dlask Bren conversion cost $600 CAD and not knowing the cost of the Nodak lower, I'd say <$2500 is a somewhat realistic expectation. Once you get >$2500 unless you really hate the ergos of the X95 you're probably better off going that route instead of buying what is essentially a US produced commercial-level hybrid AR that's been rebarrelled domestically. Don't get me wrong, I want one, the JAKL looks like a cool platform but cost is definitely a consideration. A guy only needs so many .223 gas guns and $2500 is a decent amount of ammo haha.

I'd also be pretty stoked if you could point me in the direction of these <$2k NR Bren 2s you're referring to...

Yep, I've owned and sold most of the semi-autos available in the country - the only ones worth keeping have been the ones built outside of Canada with the exception of the ATRS and MDI SLR. I've been burned before, and am at the point where I'll only purchase this if the majority of the production and manufacturing is done outside of Canada. If we get USA made lowers and USA made uppers with a Canadian made barrel? Fine, whatever, I guess I can deal with taht but I'll still be wary. If it's all made in USA? That's for the best, just unfortuante they don't make a 20 inch barrel for it.

Before anyone #####es at me for that, 2 inches is hardly going to be more than a few grams of difference, makes for great DMRs, and let's be honest none of us are going to be clearing rooms SWAT style any time soon.

I didn’t say you can get a Bren for sub 2k
Just that it fits the bill of criteria you want in a rifle.. and it’s a better rifle. But you can get a restricted one for around $2300tax and shipping in
From one of our vendors here

There are many asking for a restricted Jakl.. seems like they aren’t aware of a restricted bren for the same cost

I assume that $2300 USD? Because the Bren 2 16.5" sells for $3500 CAD and the 11" sells for $3000... and that's if you can find it in stock.

I completely agree with you. I was the 3rd or 4th guy for bren 2 pre order but i had to cancel the order for not having 18.5 factory option. I tried 2 types of popular Canadian made 180 and they were junk. Even bren 2 has problems with modified barrels. You can find it on reddit couple posts.

hopping for 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39!! Later 243 308 6mm or 6.5 creedmoor!! Also could someone make a damn PS90 clone in 17wsm would be fun

Restricted Bren 2 MS 11" or 8" - CAD$2400 including tax from this very IRG where we're discussing this topic. But I guess some ppl like to pay more.

Finally figured out how to not get nuked in Reddit (don't inciude a forum link that requires a sign in).

Question from the thread their, what reason to use when posting a message to PSA

For those wanting to submit their support to PSA to the idea of Canadian specific 180 Jakl, finally received a reply back to use the following reason on their contact page:

PSA said:
Thank you for choosing Palmetto State Armory!

The contact reason that you can use for product questions, is

"FFL questions"

If you have any further questions, please reach back out to us.

Look at these people fighting over rifle that may very well never be delivered

Then stay quiet in your corner if you don't plan on airing your concerns about canadian companies third partying parts that have had mixed results into an already proven product.
