Cool? ........ The 9.3s and 358Normas are the cool.350's are cool - end of story.
And yes..... a 310gr bullet at 2500 fps is a pretty stout load in a 350rm!
Someone just HAD to revive this old thread while there is a CDL Seven 350 in the EE.....thanks a lot.

OTOH, the 35Whelen is the most pragmatic of the bunch. Less cool.
...The gains in a long action are obviously significant but still no where near a 358 Norma or STA....
You pipe down. 35whelens are okay - but only if you don't have a 338-06, 350rm, or 9.3
358 NM: add only ~100 fps MV over my long action 350 RM -

According to the Powley computer your increase in COAL should = about 100 fps with 250gr bullets. So you are likely above SAAMI pressures.

My custom .350 Remington Magnum built on a Remington 798 long action with a 24" 1-in-12" twist McGowen Precision barrel. No issues with heavy bullets taking up case capacity. Near maximum load performance using Reloder17: 310gr bullets at 2500 fps and 250gr bullets at 2700 fps. Fine accuracy.

In my 35 Whelen and 9.3X62, full cases of Reloder 17 give great accuracy and the highest MV's, followed closely by the slightly slower H4350. Reloder 17 seems to be THE powder for this bore size and case capacity for medium to heavy for caliber bullets.
The 350 Rem Mag fits into the tiny space between those two, its only advantage being that it can fit into a Short Action if the bullets are short-seated.
