The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

I was under the impression there is a drop in G-36 look-alike receiver like one would buy for a 10/22 or a Lee-enfield.

LOL no. There are G36 style lowers that you can buy for around the $500 mark but other then that you will need to have your reciever cut and mated to an actual G36 stock block and that aint cheap.

I'll add this to the mix:

TBostic stock, I love it! Everything the factory stock should be.

Suprathepeg, where did you get the single point mount. The stock looks good and mine should look the same in a couple weeks. Any problems moving the trigger group.

Trigger group is easy, just take your time. Single point mounts/thumbscrews came from the EE on hkpro.com I can't remember off hand who makes them.

Got my Tbostic stock and after a couple hiccups installing the trigger group we are good to go.Excellent piece of work by Tom.

That makes 2 of those stocks in Winnipeg and maybe a total of 2 in the country, nice Bob. You should add an aluminum sight rail to that SL8, which I can help you with, PM me ;-) .

Here is the genaral info about the SL8. It is from HK-usa web site. Red info has been added by me.

THE SL8-6 RIFLE

A truly revolutionary new rifle—the HK SL8-6 is constructed almost entirely of a reinforced carbon-fiber polymer. Based on the current combat-tested German Army G36 rifle, the SL8-6 uses a proven short stroke, piston-actuated gas operating system, well known for simplicity and reliability. Designed and engineered to deliver exceptional shooting performance, the SL8-6 is already a favorite among European rifle shooters, due in large part to the many modular sighting systems available. These modular systems include extended and short Picatinny rail mounts. The ergonomic and clean lines of the HK SL8-6 are functional and modern, giving the SL8-6 the look and feel of 21st century firearm.
