Typical boss!! Coming into production and making more problems than solving. :)

I think it was almost "tar and feather"... I backed away very carefully without making eye contact with Tara... we call her the "President of TSE North"... for those who have never been here, we are about 35,000 sq feet and the Training wing where receiving is located is about 100 metres away from the offices... so she runs her own independent country over there... They have tea breaks!

Not to pick a fight with anyone, but....If Rick's pride and ego are such that he will refuse money for licensing from someone who is offering it as a show of good faith EVEN THOUGH HE ISNT LEGALLY REQUIRED TO, then I'm sorry but I dont feel sorry for him. MDI was smart to license out to BCL. If Rick wanted to keep people lined up for years in advance then he should have patented his design.

And dont get me wrong, the ATRS (especially the new sets) are gorgeous. Absolutely stunning.

Other manufacturers should have picked it up a long time ago IMO. Cheaper receiver sets mean there will be more in the wild. The more out there the harder it is to feasibly ban.

Easy everyone... Rick is not "motivated" by money. He truly loves his craft. He simply thought it was more hassle than worth... I appreciate his position and to be fair, it allowed me to run these for less. Rick is an innovator and lets not forget this.

No question about that. Canadian gun owners owe him more than they realize. Much respect.

Edit: I probably could have worded that better. I wasn't taking a run at Rick, I was aiming that more at the few haters that jumped into the thread.

It sounds like ATRS considers the Canadian gunsmithing industry less as competition and more like the collaborative local distilling and brewing industry. They know they have a premium, well regarded product, like a well aged whisky, and they don't mind if someone else takes a crack at some weekend-drinking whisky of a bit less quality. And the more gun smiths producing product when the ban hammer hits, the more allies they have when fighting the feds. Good luck to both ATRS and Sterling!

What's with these clueless people digging up 8 year old issues? THE SWISS ARMS nonsense WAS FIXED by the HARPER Government! People need to shut up, move along, realize JR's gun business is a huge asset, and understand the only way to fix this is to vote in another Conservative majority.

Fixed? You call writing an exemption that virtually bans any new models from coming in (molon labe cz858 for instance) Fixing the problem? They simply did the bare minimum to get people to stop screaming about it. They put a Band-Aid on an infected cut that required stitches, and the Liberals just ripped off the bandaid and poured salt into the wound...

Fixing the problem would have required far more than some weak exemption...

Kenny needs to make a stand on this issue. There are ways in which a provincial government can exempt their province from this bs. Maybe not so much the import aspects but certainly the use and maybe local production. Hence, Quebec’s exemption to bring back the long gun registry.

If Kenny hasn’t already, he needs to get in touch with JR and other Albertan gun dealers/manufacturers. Alberta’s economy needs every option available for staying afloat during and after covid. I think encouraging the manufacture of high quality firearms for not just provincial, but international sale would employ dozens to hundreds and bring much needed profit to Alberta’s economy.
