I find most bulk ammo is average 2.5" for me. 55-62 grain for plinking.
Mine seems to like 69-77 grain match ammo for actually attempting to be accurate

The one time I accidentally turned the gas setting off to "0", the gun wouldn't cycle. It took me a few seconds to realize why it wasn't shooting. Once I turned it to "1", it was back to normal. Therefore, I am not sure how you managed to shoot yours with the gas selection shut?

Here's the best I can do for now. It was pretty simple fitting the ambi-catch. I used a dremel to grind down the side nearest the post.
You can see in the last picture, the threading is smaller on the original mag release (the one on the right). So I had to drill out the oversized button that came with my T97.ca LHG and re-tap it. I don't remember what size drill bit or tap set I used, but if you have the tools, it shouldn't be hard to figure out. I also used the dremel to grind away the outer diameter of the T97.ca oversized button to help it fit better (It fits perfect with the oem mag release, but with the norgon, mine needed a bit of extra clearance)
Lastly, everything is still in the raw, so if it's shiny, it's something I have tampered with. Hope this helps

I'm sure this has been covered many times but I can't find info - can someone point me to an answer?
My T97 sometimes works, sometimes (often) fails to feed with the bullet being pushed back into the case. Is there a fix? Should I return the gun? I have tried with the mag it came with and alloy GI type mags, problem happens with both.
Also it doesn't always fully lock up with the carrier being 1cm short of fully forward sometimes. It does fire in this state - is that common?

A bit of guntape (duct tape) on the front of the magazine held them in place well and they still released with little to no effort.

I had these problems and with a bit of work fixed them up all nice.
First, I went through some trial and error with magazines, loose fitting magazines are what causes the FTFs to happen. If they are loose, shim the back of the mag with the soft side of industrial velcro tape. I run IMI beowulf mags, LAR 15 pistol magazines, and Gen 2 pmags. those are the magazines that have run best in my experience. The stock magazine it came with for me was absolute trash, FTF every single shot. I think I left it at the bottom of some random creek out west somewhere lol.
Secondly, check the earlier posts in this thread and find the guide to grinding feed ramps on your T97, that will also help not having the rounds be pushed into the case.
As for the lock up, you can't baby the T97, pull the charging handle back and let it slam home, anything less will cause it to not lock up proper and you have to manually push it forward into full battery. I wouldn't advise firing it in this state as the round is not fully seated in the chamber.
After all the work I put in I still have the *occasional* (1 in 150 maybe) FTF, but generally its on borrowed mags.

edit: I got those IMI beowolf mags - they fit TERRIBLY. They barely fit in. I have gen-1 style alloy beowolf mags that fit fine and drop free, which makes me think it's gen 1 or nothing for type 97s.
I hope someone reads this and doesn't have to waste the same money I did.
