I'm trying it out. Apparently it is preferable to mount holographics more forward, usually you see them on AR-15's where they aren't able to mount on the handguard due to zeros shift so they mount them right on the forward edge of the reciever. So far I'm liking it up front, balance is still good, less vision obstruction and it looks better aesthetically there. Holographics have unlimited eye relief so you can mount it wherever, the charging handle doesn't interfere either.
I'm considering putting a keymod light on it or maybe those keymod side folding bippods.
You want something as low to the rail as possible. Some sort of micro red dot like a Holosun, Sig, or Aimpoint T1 if you have the cash for that.

Thought I was the only one with a UH-1. I did the .308 fix to my holosight. Much happier!
I have the UH-1 mounted in the same spot and I like the balance too. I found it unbearable to work the charging handle with it mounted farther aft. It does look sci-fi with that brick up there

Yeah its a great look up front plus you get more peripheral vision around it. What do you mean the .308 fix?

My gen 1 T97 has been having consistent feeding issues with the first or last round depending on the mag. I put Magpul followers in the Norinco and RRA LAR mags and problem solved. Finally!
I’ve been reading how the gen 3 pmags don’t work with the T97s, but I’m very happy with them after a few minutes of filing. Just rub a little material off the sides of the spine on the back and they fit, cycle and drop right out of my mine. I had to take a little off of the stupid rivet too.
I’m a happy boy today!

Ask for people to sell you theirs. Most people don't like the factory mag.
I was wondering if that PLA brass catcher on eBay would fit my Gen2 and I see ShawnC6 posted a pic earlier and it looks to mount properly.
At my range to the front and right is a steep slope and thick weed, the policy is police your spent brass and the T97 has left me searching high and low.
My T97 sure shoots that brass far and dents a few on the way out, but not one stoppage in over 200 rounds with cheep ammo.

My friend has a Gen2 and it fits fine. It won't save your brass, though.
Can you show a picture with the bipod folded?
Side mount bipod looks like itl Work awesome.
