The T97 Thread!

Just because I didnt see it in this thread.

http://www.t97.ca/

They have a flat top upper for the T97 that should be out in december and have heard that they are working on a lower as well that fixes alot of the ergonomic issues the rifle has. Personally waiting out to buy one until I see the final product of these guys (same guys who do M14.ca and the blackfeather stock).

That is a lot of modification done to the T97...

That might be true but it gives you everything the current T97 is lacking (flatop rail, side charging handle and it allows for better mounting of the optics)

Not to mention being all made in Canada out of aluminum. According to the site they are saying its a 15 minute install personally cant wait to see the video of a completed one good to go.

what mags are you using?

stock mag, and a metal alexander arms mag. Most of the ammo I have shot through the alexander arms mag. I don't remember which magazine the malfunction occurred with. I have put 250-300 rounds through my rifle flawlessly before that using those two mags, so I doubt it is a magazine feeding issue causing the bullet to be pushed in... Who knows though. I think it is an ammunition problem. We will see in the coming weeks though.

I've only had one pushed in with my rifle and it was with two Pistol mags coupled together and both were fully loaded. I think it's the extra weight. Pulling front of mag down. That was the very first time I fired it only about 3 rounds in. Since then I only load one of the pistol mags. I think I'll do a little filing on feed ramp to see if it helps. Easy to see where to file after a 100 rounds. Other than that one time it's worked perfectly. Sights were dead on. Decent groups. Mags drop free. Great truck gun. Keeping mine.

I had an odd malfunction of my t97 the other day. About 100 rounds into my shooting session, I pulled the trigger and when it fired, I felt some serious trigger slap. Next round, pull the trigger. Nothing. No click. Just a dead trigger. Ripped the rifle down. The trigger bar had popped off of the trigger mechanism. Put it back together, and a few rounds later it happened again.

I pulled everything apart and gave the trigger mech and trigger bar a good wipe down because they were filthy. Reassembled and burned through the next 50 rounds with no issue.

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else yet. I have been running this rifle hard and dirty to see how it will hold up, so I expected some type of failure. Just found that one to be odd.

That is peculiar zesty. Keep us updated. If it keeps happening contact NS to see if you can get a replacement rifle. I haven't heard of this problem until now.

Yah i dunno, i would be spending 2 hours alone on getting that stupid front sight off.

I have heard it is possiable to put the bar in upsidedown? was that possiable? I have put 1000+ rounds and the only issues were mag related. Now I have that figured out 500+ with no FTF or FTE.

Should also mention I had exactlt the same mag issues on my SU-16f.

Richard. If you don't mind me asking, what was the mag fix? I've been pulling my hair out with mine (massaging the ramp and mags) and my buddies 97 is jamming bullets into the ramp, even with the stock mag!

P.S. I don't see how you could put the bar in upside down and fire even one round. It's not in my hand right now, but I'm almost positive that it's only notched on one side to engage the trigger.

What kind of ammunition have you been using?

I have heard that replacing the followers with the orange followers solves the problem. Not sure where they sell them.

Any comment on what the actual differences are between PLA versions and the ones available here?

So, the calibre is different, and the trigger mechanism was modified to be semi. How extensively do the designs differ?

I have not had a problem at all with this and find it reliable. Got my tracks on the Commander so its back to the ranch. The Bears should be sleeping and hopefully the Cats have gone down lower with the deer.

I'm having a ftf issue with mine, it will run fine some times and other times I'm getting jammed rounds, jammed so bad its deforming the brass any one give me some pointers on this filling of the feed ramp I'm a little scared to start modifying thanks, also problem is the worst with the stock mag, I'm firing norinco ammo and best mag seems to be the black Cdefence lar15 mags *update went to the range today and gun ran fine all day may just needed to break it in I'm at about 600+ rounds now and seems to be working perfectly with the lar15 mags :)

That seems to be the root of many peoples problems. I am glad the problem sorted itself out. Perhaps a break-in thing?

Just some black duct tape on the Mags. stops them from tilting and no more FTF, fixed it for my su-16 to.

Where did you get the side charging handle, and does it affect the operation?

Your telling me! Luv those mags but to bad our stupid government can't see that it is pointless to have these magazine restrictions and let us shoot normal magazines.
As for my T97 I had to ditch the charging handle cause it was pinching my fingers and stole this mount from a friend of mine so I could use my spare red dot.
