The Templar Thread, 5.56 by Crusader Arms / Spectre LTD

I for one, do not understand why some folks insist upon comparing apples to oranges. There is no real comparison possible between any of the rifles professionallly-designed and formally adopted for national mililtary service and our amateur-designed, domestically-manufactured AR180B derivatives. They are worlds apart. Sure, there is some performance overlap in terms of accuracy, reliability and durability, however in the bigger picture there is no fair comparison possible.

If we are going to compare the Templar to the WK-180 or its predecessor WS-MCR, or the forthcoming BCL Siberian, then fair enough. Those are all valid comparisons of platforms competing on a level playing field. Likewise, if you are going to compare anytihng to the X95 then the field ought to include the likes of the CZ Bren. Those are valid comparisons...

You are absolutely correct. Which is why, when a couple of my friends have asked my advice in choosing a rifle in the last year, I've steered them toward the Bren2 or X95. It's a no-brainer.

Has anyone receive their rifle in the past two weeks? And if you did when did you bought it? I’ve completed my order more than a month ago and I’m really looking forward to try this new gun!

Good luck. Hope it comes soon. I just ordered mine a week ago so have a while to wait yet. Will let everyone know once I do get it though.

New TEMPLAR Video on it's accuracy...no hand loads or Match grade ammo unfortunately, So it could likely be even more accurate with premium heavier loads.

A previous poster (somewhere) said that you essentially have to remind/prompt them. This has been my experience as well. I let 6-8 weeks go by until I prompted them in late December. Got my rifle not long after

My results with 69 gr Federal Gold Medal Match were consistent and repeatable 1 5/8" 5-round groups at 100m with no "declared fliers" or other excuses.

Just received an email saying they are waiting on stocks that were on back order. So that might be the reason for the wait.

It would be nice if they gave an option to charge extra for a buffer tube adapter, cheap tube and stock and shipping for the folder when it arrives, so you could at least use the rifle in the meantime.

I've tested tested many types of ammo in the Sentinel/Templar. the best I could get was around a 1 moa group with Hornady Black 62gr 5.56. everything else has been around 2-4 moa that i have tested.

I took the rifle out to the range today and got consistent hits on the 800 meter on steel. Albeit the target was large at 24x36". I'm happy with its results.

only issue I've had so far is the bolt catch/release doesn't work anymore. have over 1100 rounds through it.

The bolt catch stopped working on mine a few hundred rounds in... Take some vids of the malfunction and send it to them for review. I sent mine back and they fixed and shipped it back out quickly.

Buddy of mine just got his. Very excited but no sights on the rifle…..WTF?

I don't think any of the Canadian 180s have iron sites. The nice thing with the Templar's monolithic upper the front iron sight wil hold perfect zero.

The bolt release lever had an issue on my Crusader 9 lower about 300 rounds (600 if you also include 9mm fired from the same lower) in - the issue with mine was the retaining e-clip. Do you know by chance how your issue was resolved?

It's fine now - service had a replacement e-clip plus replacements to me within 3 days (and with the part in hand I fixed the issue in two minutes), so a really minor issue because it only affected the bolt release, which you could also use the charging handle for. I'm wondering, though, if it's part of a larger general issue with the bolt release assembly on both Sentinels and Templars.

FYI The receiver is threaded for buffer tube already just remove the folding stock and it’s right there ready to go. I was pleasantly surprised as I’m not a fan of the folder.
