This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

I have enough for the next couple years. I shoot 1/2-1 case at gophers and 1/2 case of SK+ a year. In the US it is starting to get better. Bass Pro, Cabelas, and even Walmart gets shells weekly. They go fast but are coming in. Resellers at gun shows are only gouging at +50%, not the 200%+ they were last year. 555 s, 525 bulk are about $40-50 at shows and m1000s are $75-100.
Those only wanting a few boxes seem to be finding some after lots of looking.

When I was there all I saw first was the winchesters. I was about to walk away but then I saw the s and b and the federal stuff behind some boxes. Thankful I was more observant, I got enough to last me the summer, which probably isn't much compared to some around here.

This thread is now approaching 100 pages.

Since "Piss" might be the strongest word used . . .

. . . let me suggest "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel".

A funny film and the strongest word used was "piss".

Getting back to the cost of .22 ammo, it will not improve until the CDN $ turns around.
Buy a bolt action. Slow down your action time and increase your accuracy potential.

The last five firearms I have bought are 22's. The fastest cycle is "Speed Steel" with a Marlin 39 Mountie in the Product Carbine Cowboy class but the accuracy is such that less than 200 rounds are required and the ammo kicked out by the FTF Autos work in the lever.

I check everytime I'm in Walmart or crappy tire ( only places here that sell ammo) and haven't found any .22 for months. Last time I was in cabelas in regina they didn't have a single round in the store either. Good thing I've still got plenty but it won't last the summer.

Sorry to say, I was at CT that you speak of yesterday to get some at $12.99, the price of Win 222 is now $24.99!
Yes, that is correct.

The Win Automatch is $29.95/325rd.

S&B $5.99/50rds.[/QUOTE
Nice. So they doubled the price of the stuff they had in stock. That was sure nice of them.

Wholesale sports had federal auto match online for 25.99/325
They have it listed as the champion blue box stuff, but the six boxes I bought that they sent me were auto match
I bought it right before the raised the price from 21.99 though

I was in Moncton today and picked up 22LR. Green-Diamond has lots of 22 and other ammo in stock. They also said he thought Halifax had a good supply too. I walked out with 800 rounds of Cbees and two buckets of Remington and didn't even put a dent in their inventory. Anyone close to a Green-Diamond should give them a call and see how that goes. The Green-Diamond i was in is sure as heck not having much trouble getting ammo.

And people will still buy it at that price. And when they stop buying it at that price, the price might come down. That's the way business works.

Don't worry, there are many people in this thread that don't grasp the concept and are buying at 2-3X the price they were a couple of years ago.

Ct in westbank had a big sign on the highway saying they had cci in stock... $10 for 50 round boxes of velocitors..

apologies, looked back today and saw that i posted the wrong price.

^^ You know, you cant fault someone for trying to run a business. I've done it, its hard.

But when I can go to my club (private granted), and can purchase .22lr for 40$(tax in) a 500rd brick, and have a selection of manufactures to choose from, you really see how bad some places are gouging. Because they are all buying for the same price.

Well, there are some less than scrupulous vendors for sure.. My local Cabelas had to impose limits because one of the LGS's was coming in and buying all their rimfire and then making it up huge and reselling...
