Trying to decide between Aimpoint and Eotech

My experience is the same as most of the guys on this site, I've shot thousands of rounds through my AR's and other black rifles at the range and in the bush depending which rifle it is and it's classification. I've never been to war, and I've never competed with my rifles, even though I want to and am thinking about trying it out this summer.

I didn't discredit anyone's opinion. I only asked for some details as to why he feels that way. Maybe if some of the guys like him that actually use these in real situations would say why they prefer one over the other so the rest of us can see what we may be overlooking I may give the Aimpoint another try.
I don't have to fight or compete with my rifles to know which optic I prefer, I have an opinion and I'm entitled to like whichever one I want. I never said anyone has to agree with me and I never called anyone names for not liking what I like.

I will repost the facts. A t/h1 micro is smaller, lighter with a much better battery life and a far better history of being rugged and reliable when compared to any eotech. That is fact not opinion. Have a look at the DD test video of their rifle with a t1 being dropped from a helicopter and subjected to explosives at close range. You want more supporting evidence of the facts listed above. Do a search of the big names in training and tell me how many are running an aimpoint vs an eotech. Your opinion is worthless without facts to support it.

well I missed all the action. Aimpoint all the way for me, not a big fan of the Micros as I've not spent a lot of time behind them yet. But I love my CompM4. thing is a freaking tank, it's taken many years of abuse and torture at my hands, and my friends, and still keeps on ticking. Every Eotech I've played with has had a blurry chevron, ####ty controls and the owners have all ditched them after they stopped working. I've seen buckets in armories filled with dead Eo's and either Aimpoints or Trij on the guns the guys take out on patrol. So that really only leaves one choice for me. Aimpoint.

Although I do want to mount a CMore on my next blackgun, just for ####s and giggles.

The key thing to me is educating yourself and then making your choice - that way you know you have done your research and the decision is yours to make. If you choose Eotech and it works for you great ; a lot of shooters like the larger field of view

If however you have issues with yours, and my experience tells me you very possibly will, then you can look in the mirror and know that you were forewarned and decided to use an Eotech anyway

Big boy rules - for a fun gun who cares ? But for any weapon that you might use in harms way I would personally choose Aimpoint everyday and twice on Sunday

There ya have it

Also I'll share a quick story with you ; at last years SHOT show ( 2013) I asked Paul Buffoni of BravoCompanyUSA what he has seen in terms of issues with Eotech and Aimpoint having sold them both for years - he told me he has sent back more Eotech's for warranty than he can count ( to their credit they always make it right ) ; as for the number of Aimpoints sent back for warranty issues since he has been in business for 10 years - exactly one (1)

Enough said

Appreciate the input Lav!

All the guys here use eotech with flip magnifiers andfor both day and nv applications. Some use the acog depending on their rig. Haven't heard of any using aimpoints, but I didn't ask. I can talk to my friend who works there and find out what they think..

If you're talking CF, the EOTech were purchased on a larger scale because 1) Cheaper 2) L3 has offices in Canada.

Acog's were considered the "go to" sight years ago. My buddy ran one overseas instead of the Elcan.

However, now a days he only runs Aimpoints (for red dots) for multiple reasons. Battery life, weight, durability, size are the top reasons.

Off subject a tad but here goes anyway. I'm considering an Elcan Spector DR 1 x 4 for games including 3Gun. Does anyone have experience and opinions?

Just one point to add. If you buy an original Aimpoint for $600, also buy a Chinese copy for $35. Use the Chinese copy at the range for the Tacti-cool bragging points. After using it for 500 rounds or so and you feel like selling, you can still get top dollar for your legit Aimpoint since you never took it out of the box..

That is quite possibly the worst advice given so far in this thread.

I'm confused as to why you'd buy the real one at all under this line of "reasoning".....

You'd be amazed at the number of people who own a real Rolex but buy and wear a fake Rolex instead because they don't want to damage the real one and the fake is quite acceptable in terms of performance. Owning a real one gives them comfort that they are not a fraud, even if they don't use it.. Same thing here...

Anyone (IMO) who wears a fake watch and gets called out on it, has a "real" one at home.

I still don't get it...

WTF???

I mean...WTF???

Welcome to the wonderful world of consumer behavior. I own a fake Aimpoint and a real one. Also own a real Eotech. The fake Aimpoint has held up quite well. Holds zero nicely on a 7.62x39 at less than 100m.

I swear.....this is just the one I wear daily, I keep my real Rolex at home so it doesn't get damaged.....
