Wow!!! Sweeeet!!! I know some people really like dark wood but I am not one of them. I absolutely love lighter stocks with dark figuring. Really shows of the beauty of the wood IMO. I am truly amazed at the quality of walnut on many of the Huglu shotguns for such a reasonable price. Yet many of the Italian brands costing thousands more look like the stock was carved from a 2x6 from Home Depot and the ones with stocks similar as these in the picture would likely be costing $10k or more. I am really thinking about adding a Turkish O/U in 28 gauge to my collection but the only drawback I am seeing is the published weights seem to be on the high side for my liking. I’m not sure how accurate their listed weights are but a O/U 28 gauge weighing in at close to 7 lbs or more is a little more than I would want to be carrying around in the bush all day.

Ive never weighed these 2. The weight balances well between the hands and they have 26" barrels. They dont feel overly heavy. Ive carried the sxs for miles and it was never a bother. The wrist is larger than need be but it is very comfortable to shoot
If you want a really light weight ou 28ga huglu makes the hawk line. They are cheaper and lack the hardcase and the side ribs. Im sure clay at prophet river could help you with actual weights.
As for the lighter stocks i just stripped the dark thick stain off a spanish boxlock to find very light wood. I just gave 3 coats of minwax poly clear and it came out real nice and sets the true case coloring off nice

Canuck operator
Akkar Churchill 206 sliver.
Both great guns. The finish on the operator isn't perfect but for the price love it..

I took a chance last week on a Canuck, thinking the Enforcer would be a good camp gun. Took it down, detail cleaned, no glaring issues. I'm not a fan of the dovetail on top, wish it were drilled and tapped instead but I'll see what I can come up with.

Otherwise, it's ready for the range. Baptism by fire with 20 slugs and 100 rounds of 00 buck.

I use a dovetail to Picatinny rail adapter. Held in place by 4 bolts and a recoil pin. It isn't going anywhere. You'll find that it breaks-in quickly and is super easy to strip and clean!

I don’t know if I consider something “ good” if it needs warranty work

Kind of a gap between POS and good lmao

Similarly something is not “ excellent” because it simply works

I have owned three shotguns in the past couple years!

Browning BPS 12 Gauge - Was a great gun, annoying to clean because of the bottom eject but good quality. It was a predator barrel so didn't work well for bird hunting so I sold it and bought a semi.

Churchill SA 12 Gauge - Decent gun worked great for duck and goose hunting. Didn't like some types of ammo but if it liked the ammo it would cycle the whole box. Had to keep it super clean as well. Good finish and material decent value for money.

Mossberg 500L 12 Gauge - Currently own this as its a left handed pump with two barrel combo (Smooth bore and rifled) Only shot slugs through it so far but I honestly felt the Churchill was a smoother gun and action. I am kind of biased about Mossberg being rough and needing some "finishing" work but thats from this shotgun and my fathers Mossberg patriot. both of which are meh to say the best.

If I could get a bps with two barrels I probably would in a heart beat but wasn't able to so I sold it.

I will do some work on the Mossberg to make it smoother but the Turkish guns are alright as far as I'm concerned I would buy again for sure.

I’ve owned my share of Turks too, but I think they all fell between “good” (huglu ventus woodcock), meh (weatherby pa 08 style pumps and beretta folder clones) and absolute trash ( semis, levers and more)

I don’t think I’ve ever owned an “ excellent “ shotgun, maybe a few rifles…

I guess some have lower standards, being able to finish a box of shells without jamming is not an achievement in my books but what do I know

My standards are very low. And, I have no idea what I'm talking about. And, this poll is absolutely unreliable. I would caution anybody to steer clear of Turkish guns if you want to shoot more than a box of shells. They WILL fall apart after limited usage, and for certain, you WILL require warranty work, and warranty support is non-existent. Mossberg and Remington are far superior in terms of fit, finish, intelligent engineering, and metallurgy.

UTAS Turkey makes my UTS15 shotgun. It’s my “The Purge” shotgun. 15 shotshells in a bullpup-style pump stock. It’s awesome. I also have a “Thunder Ranch” tactical O/U shotgun that is great.
Erdogan, their NATO & Israel hostile leader is a bully, has ruined their currency & stands alone as a pariah. But Turkey make great firearms.

i would say 1500 rounds through my churchill 206 last year, not one issue. The canuck operator maybe 250 rounds, all target loads, 2 jams, but cheap white box winchester target loads. For me far from junk....

Yes, I think this will be the key for me as well. A decent dovetail-mounted rail for an RDS would be sweet. Was thinking of just emailing O'Dell and see if they know where I could get the factory rail/rear sight.

Otherwise it's not really a huge deal, I may also just tape off a part of the front sight blade and give it a splash of color and forego the rear or RDS option altogether.
