(philosophizing) .... If I got a T81 like that, id certainly want to wire brush ALL of that god awful grey finish off and get the gun professionally blued. Id make custom AK furniture for it cus that Chinese wood looks like they cut it out with a hatchet lol. looks like I would also have to move the safety to the other side so I could have room for a POSP side plate. AND of course modify the receiver to hold AK mags.

I think the gun has potential..... but I'll definitely be waiting for the Guinea Pigs to torture test them out first before I invest.

How was the gun weight wise (not balance wise) compared to an SKS ? it looks heavy.

It felt nice. It's lighter than it looks. It points nice. You face sits in the dip fairly close to the back of the dust cover. Overall, feels very nice in hand.

First, that finish may look "God awful" but it more then works for what it needs. That finish will stand up way better then any bluing.

Second, it's light for a stamped metal rifle

Yes sir, that it certainly is. It's lighter than I expected. Also, TI is not 100% sure yet on if some parts will be blued, some parkerized. You can see in the photos, and you likely saw today, that the butt plate, and gas system area was polished blued metal, whereas everything else was park'd.

Thanks for the great close-ups of the rifle. I know it's a prototype... but the finish on that thing leaves a lot to be desired. Overall it looks like an interesting rifle and I can't wait to see the first imports and take a good look myself.

worse advice ever, folders suck to shoot. Unless you plan on just taking pics on the Kitchen table... lol...

I wasn't providing an advice, I was expressing a personal preference......To each his own.

I've never had a problem with folders. Except for underfolders as those are so uncomfortable

As bfiles says, I haven't had any issues either. Own 2 VZ58s, a folder and a fixed. Love 'em both equaly, both shoot very well!

Hmmmmm......are there any differences between the side folder vs. underfolder, besides the obvious? is it purely aesthetics ?

Some people think underfolders are extremely uncomfortable, but I used when when I was playing airsoft back in the day and I didnt have an issue with it. I think side folding mechanisms are more sturdy than underfolding too. If I had to choose, Id choose side folding.
