You aware of the Chinese ban in the USA for many years.
That's why Chinese firearms are rare in USA and that's also whit its worth that much, just because its rare.

I guess I'm all wrong and I know nothing about mechanical fabrication.
You must be right, China is always produced top quality items and facts proves it.

A simple Google search will result in lots of reviews showing how much respect Americans have for Chinese ak build quality. They are considered top build AKs. Rare isn't the only reason for their value down there. Quality plays a part.

You must talk about the Chinese Ak-47S which has a milled receiver. Its the closest copy of the Russian AK-47.
In fact, the soviets supplied machinery and technical assistance to the Chinese ( same for the SKS back then ).

There is many models of Chinese AK and quality varies from one model to another

This time, Russians won't provide machinery and technical assistance.

PS : the Chinese AKS, which have a stamped steel receiver is one of the rarest of the chinese guns in USA.

What do you mean won't provide assistance? The type 81, even this variant is based on their former military rifles... They wouldn't be giving their soldiers crap that didn't work.

Don't need assistance when they did their own R&D and already made millions.

...provide assistance for manufacturing/making the parts, how to use the tolerances to fit mechanical parts together, how to overcome production problems, teach/how to use the Russian tooling, see, that kind of stuff.

In fabrication, you want to learn form other's mistakes, not yours. You will save time and money.

There is nothing more important than experienced workers to make quality work.
If you start from zero, it will eventually be good.

I have no doubts NEA will be a good brand one day  cou:

I'm mostly worried as to whether these Canadian market Type 81s will be of the same technical standards as the military versions, if they cheese out on details, like having a less quality barrel ala nonrestricted 858s, then that's a deal killer for me.

If these milled Chinese AK'S were so good why did they decide to change them to Type 81 rifles then????

And I have ALOT of mechanical skills aswell ;-)

Yes but what I'm saying.... They already did this. The type 81 isn't new. They have the experience. They already made the mistakes. They already know about the parts. They already know about the tolerances.

Those were a premium commercial product, their regular stamped AKs were good but not great by the '80s. Before then their AKs were not well regarded and that might be why they presumably decided to go with a design that might have been easier to for them to manufacture to consistent standard.

Speaking of the '80s, consider that their GDP in 1989 as in the order of 5% of what it is currently, combine that with the rise in raw materials prices and it says that their once negligible production costs have gone up a lot.

This is an 'old' design. It will be well enough made, while seemingly cutting corners here and there, like the finish and only two mags. I know I get irked by that certain dealer having only one mag with pistols.

Very true and yes that is a good point

But AK pistol mags are nothing but vapourware right now. As much As I want about a dozen...lol...

Yea for now but I have confidence IRG can seal the deal and get them for us. So having that in the back of my head would force my hand to preorder a folder and hope I can obtain a decent cheekweld.
