Type 81 Owners Corner !

Well I feel really bad typing this out. Feel bad for all my fellow gunnies who got a defective rifle. Mine came yesterday. Fixed stock. I’ve been all over it and it looks good to go. No Bend! However there is a slight cant to the gas block. I don’t think it’ll affect function. Hoping anyway lol. It did give the rifle a slight look of being bent if you eyed it right down the whole length of the rifle but it’s not noticeable unless you’re really looking for a bend. Once I removed upper handguard I could see it’s just the gas block. I thought about giving it a whack with my rubber mallet but think I’ll shoot it first. I’m hoping it don’t affect function the way it is. The upper handguard on mine is a b!tch to get off maybe because of gas block? Hmmm
First thing I did was change the grip. Hate the original looks and feel. Too small. I also modded an AK magpul mag to work. Factory and magpul mags lock up tight.
Fit and finish are good for what it is and where it came from.
All in all I’m happy. Here’s some pics

EDIT- I stripped it down again and shined a light in the gas block. I could see lots of light in the bore. Gas port did not look obstructed. But kinda hard to tell that way. I’ll just have to try it and see.

Its the way they should ALL fuking be.

Yeah exactly that's exactly what I was thinking staring at that wicked straight rifle in the image than slowly turning my head glaring at my type 81 out of the sides of my eyes with furrowed brows and shaking my head I say it out loud ...."ITS THE WAY THEY SHOULD ALL F#*KIN BE"

Gas block

I got my folder on Friday and the gas block looks just like yours, the folding stock is bent to one side and the gun looks like its also bent at the trunnion.
I called Tactical Imports and left a message and got a return call within 30 min. from Neil. Neil said to take it apart check for straightness and email him
some pictures and that I could send it back on their dime for a replacement or "full refund". I've been out of town and wont be able look at it until Wednesday
or Thursday. I think at this point if they're getting more next year I will probably get a refund and pick one up next year!

I'd be very interested to hear from TI, I'd like a grand total of how many folders and how many fixed were actually bent and returned to them. I find it strange that it seems like the folders were affected more than the fixed stock even though they should have all been the same production run and the only difference should be which stock was pinned into the back end.
Also, did they simply over-sell the magazines? Did they get shorted from how many they were told were going to be in the shipment? Were some damaged and couldn't be sold? Even if it was just a locked thread on their page for info only and no comments from us.

Wow so good to back on CGN after a nice little 6 month pink timeout

Crazy to read all the posts with all issues with these rifles....I was In on the pre order the first month it dropped last year.....I received my fixed 2 weeks ago and I was fortunate enough to receive a straight rifle.....short a lot of mags with a letter from TI apologizing for the issue.....I did get out shooting the day I got it and it's functions flawlessly....I'm really sorry to see all the issues that have arised with these.. after reading for a few hours thru all the posts leading up to the delivery of these it's blows my mind.......I myself did have to call TI a few times to ask about progress and what was going on with the shipping delays.....never did get thru....I can say I'm very happy with the product just not happy about the delay and the mag issue....anyways good to be back on CGN

^^^Thanks man that was a very long 6 months....been saving a lot of $$$$ though....can't wait for boxing day and those fabulous EE deals!

I was already too late this morning on a type 81 folder that sold for 1075$ shipped this morning I want a folder to go with my fixed BAD

Read his forum posts, looks like he was in a conversation about legally/illegally importing magazines in your luggage from the US. Probably said something condoning breaking the law.

Nailed by mod on this offense:
1. Shipping and driving items from the US that require US export permits.
