Type 81 Owners Corner !

The front sling swivel is mounted backwards on my folder. I can't install the sling properly. This is a solid piece of wire installed by a machine. I may have to send this rifle back because of this?

I'm confused. How can you not mount a sling? It's a loop and you hook the sling mount through it. Forward or backwards it's just meant to hold the sling. I had to tape the metal connectors on my sling because they scraped up the finish on the receiver and gas cover while running and gunning.

Yup, that's backwards. On mine I can clearly see the line where the loop is joined on the narrower side. I think it could be separated where the two 45 degree angle cuts meet then opened up to reinstall. Unless this is a repurposed mill spec fence staple.

SKS-KD is Canadian Company (Kodiak Defence) modified SKS to accept AK47 mags.
Will it accept type 81 Chinese assault rifle mags?
What about CZ58/VZ58/WR762 mags?

Put another ummmm.... bunch (60-75 rounds, was having too much fun to count) through mine today with another CGN'r and his new fixed stock. My rifle had one failure of bolt over cartridge which was easily cleared and his rifle ran all rounds cleanly. Did some sight adjustments and both rifles were hitting pretty steady 4ish inch groups at 50 yards. My steel plates are holding up nicely even though I had to weld the chain back onto the 50 yard plate half way through our session :).
Still very happy with my purchase, accuracy is good enough for what it is and will definitely be smashing a coyote or two this winter with it.

I did some more mods to my sights after the shooting today, gave the front sight a peak to help aim a little more precisely, we'll see if I made it better or not next shooting session.

Get out and shoot them, way more fun than trying to make sure it's bent.

I said it is 8 MOA rifle and guys like “you can’t shoot for ####”.

What was that other guy posting? 10 inch gong at 300m? LOL

Lol, 8 moa is the best I've seen from mine so far. Each time I've taken the file to my sights I've been able to shrink my group a little. I think the rifle is capable of a lot more than these crappy iron sights. Once someone figures out a way to mount an optic I'm thinking these will shoot much better.

I am loving my Type 81, I have no complaints for this new old world Battle Axe... None, it's a com block style rifle. It's not for people with OCD, lazers and cannot accept that it's NOT CNC machined.... It's every bit as good as the Norinco AK47's that americans rave about (if you go on the American AK forums, they love to hate the same things I am hearing about the Type 81). It's a great Sino-Soviet rifle!!!

I finally had a chance to take the T81 out to the range. I put about 200 rounds through it with zero issues at all, she ran like a champ.
The groupings were about 4" at 50 yards, which I cannot complain about. I did not have a chance to take it out to 100 yards but will next time.
I am as happy as a fat kid in a candy store with my new rifle!!!

I ####ing love mine! I can't thank TI enough for giving me the opportunity to own these. I would do the wait all over again to have one of these in my vault.
