Type 81 vs AK47

I tried an AR at -45 degrees once. It didn't function so well. My Cz-858 had no issues. I'll stick to commie guns for reliability I guess.

Looking forward to the Type 81.

I can't buy a Type 81 and I still want to hear about them. Just saying my experience with Ak47s... a lot of hype and really they are just a cheap mass produced rifle. I was terribly disappointed when I moved down here and could finally shoot and own them.

Like pretty much any so called "assault rifle" . Give me an all machined, smooth bolt in a beautiful piece of walnut any day.

I have a Hungarian AKM and a VZ58 and I will add the type81 to my collection. I love them all. Just keep the price reasonable.

So I just went to WIKI and did some measurements on my own SKS.

1. "Detachable mags" - I can convert my SKS to detach mags if I want, but the stripper clips continue to work very well either way w/o any feed issues whatsoever. Those huge 30rnd mags are a PITB for hunting carry whereas the the sleek little drop mag on a SKS is a much better system.

2. "Weight" - If I remove the bayonet from my SKS, I come very close to the weight on a Type 81.

3. "Length" - Looks like the SKS is a whopping 1.4" longer. WOW!! .... That's huge.

4. "Looks" - Who cares about looks anyways as both are military based rifles? Looks are not an issue unless one like to dress up with their rifles in hand.

How much will they be?

What are those advantages? I can buy tonnes of aftermarket stuff for my SKS.

Exactly. No need to buy tonnes of aftermarket stuff.

Obviously the price is going to be a huge factor. I have no idea what the price will be, but I wouldn't want to pay more then what the VZ's used to sell for...... $500.00-$600
