Type 88 Sniper

There is no semi-auto rifle exist that shoots better than 1MOA. And only such rifles as Walther-2000 can do 1MOA.

I see you havent shot a MR308 (or any other match grade AR patform).

The type 88 looks cool and all, but for $3000 they couldn't include a rail?

It is likely our next shipment will include a pic rail instead of scope. T88 Sniper isnt a large prioirty for us though. Very low margins, not too much interest and lots of flak.

I'd still really love to get my hands on one of these to actually do a review for Youtube so people (not just a small group within Canada) could get a chance to see how the rifle actually performs, good or bad. Alas, not this year.

with the type 97 being brought in i totally understand. the type 81 if available for canadians is going to be huge thats where the main interest is. my only fear after looking at pictures is that big 2 lug ak style rotating bolt it could spell doom.

Second target with less than 1 MOA. today was a good day at the range with groups from 1.5 to 3 MOA all day long. This was the best target. I did try Hornady 75gr match ammo but it came in at 1.75. I'll try some American Eagle 62gr next.

Are you having (or have you had) any slamfires with the commercial grade, non-military ammunition/primers?

Soft primers like Remington and Hornady may have slam fires due to the floating firing pin, less than 1 in 40 from my experience. Heavy grease on the firing pin will stop this but only in cooler weather. at 20'c it makes no difference. Norinco, American Eagle and Winchester have no issues.

Ok, so I gotta say... You'd buy one of these over a Swiss Classic for roughly the same money!? Really?
Sorry, I just don't get this, maybe last week's heat softened my brain.

I'm a bit confused and hope you can clarify your statement for me.

The Swiss Arms Classic sells for $3295 at Wolverine and comes with one five round magazine, iron sights, a cleaning kit, sling, and is Restricted. Likely usable by left handed shooters.

The Type 88 (KBU97A) was offered by tactical imports for $3000 which included a 3-9x40 first focal plane illuminated scope with graduations to 800m, iron sights, three magazines, bi-pod, and is Non-Restricted. Not suitable for left handed shooters.

Unless the 1:7 twist and action of the Swiss Arms gives a dramatically better results than the 1:8.1 twist of the Norinco, I wonder if this is a valid statement. The only real dis-advantage i can see for the Norinco is its un-suitability for left handed shooters.

Personally I think the Swiss Arms is a cool looking rifle and would consider getting one except for the restricted status. However; I don't believe I would gain a performance advantage with it over the Norinco.

Please let me know if there is something I have missed.

I'm with you, id buy the 20" Swiss target rifle even if its a few hundred more, and doesn't have iron sights, or a scope, or a bipod. Who cares at least it's not a norinco, and it's a quality product. I would also say it would be more accurate than the type 88
