Type 97 Waiting thread

Customs is concerned about it, they download to the RCMP, the RCMP reports OK, goods are released. We are just waiting for the wheels to turn. I am not concerned about reclassification. The T97 has been sold for 2 years already as a restricted with not issues. It is likly the size of the order that scared the CBSA.

I think this is a typo. I would be worried about a reclassification to restricted. As far as I know I ordered a non-restricted rifle.

Lever has been selling the shortened version which is restricted for a few years, I think that is what he is referring to.

Uh oh - I just noticed on Lever's website it says.

Model:
Type 97A

Calibre:
.223 Rem

Shots:
5

Note:
Restricted Rifle; Scope Not Included

I seem to recall it saying "Non-Restricted" there - but maybe I'm wrong (or Lever is - who to trust? The gun selling website, or the drunk on the internet?)

Lever's rifle is DIFFERENT from the one CANAM is bringing in. The one CANAM is bringing has the barrel extended slightly to bring the barrel length to the required length to make it unrestricted. (I believe it was a 1" difference).

Lever sells both the Shorty and the long barreled version. They have the long barreled version listed as restricted. Click on the link, it's the first rifle they have listed. :nest:

Have another beer. The only reason the existing T97's in country (imported by LEVER) are restricted is due to barrel length. Canam's is over the necessary length to put them in the NON-RESTRICTED category.

Have another beer ! The Lever Arms website has never stated that the T-97 they were selling were Non Restricted it has always stated that they were Restricted

As I said before, lever's LONG T-97A is shorter than CanAM's. CanAm made slight changes to get it reclassified.

I'm starting to think they are waiting for the T97 to clear before shipping the Outlaw... Ho well...

I heard that from a lot of people. You'll love the outlaw. I spent a half day shooting a buddies and it was fun, both barrels at the same time, not as fun, but doable. I bought one, but haven't had time to get out.
