Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

It was stated that once other provinces are almost done with thei back log they woukd be helping out with ONT as they have the largest amount of transfers

Cant really see it though. As NS requires gun club members unlike Ontario. So a CFO cannot tell resident of NS one thing, when rubber stamping another. Or they will delay as they be making Ontarians prove. I know the whole membership is stupid.

But if they approve transfers to Ontarians, then we can argue as they like to use the while CFO decision, we no longer need memberships.

Just to give everyone some kind of update. I called the Ontario CFO today, July 29th, they told me that they are still working on June 1st (same as a week ago). I was inquiring about a business to private transfer initiated on June 15th. I asked them if it was possible to approve multiple transfers from the same business at once? They told me NO, they only process every application one by one. I included this information in my email to the ombudsman

I always thought Ontario required a club membership. Regardless, the CFOs for provinces where it IS required can simply skim through the transfers and take only those who listed a club under the reason for ownership. It's a bit of wasted time filtering transfers, but it's better than those CFOs doing nothing.

No, I was talking about an email indicating transfer completed.

They’ll only email a transfer completed if the email address is attached to the transfer request. In most cases when I talk to the agent when initiating a transfer, I’ll ask that my email address is attached to the transfer and most times they’ll say, yep, it’s there. Other times they’ll say, yep, I’ll add that so it’s up to the integrity of the agent. Certainly should be an automatic function in this day and age. The registration certificate should also be a email attachment but guess we can’t be telling them how to streamline their job, eh…

It’s defintely a rumour that makes 0 sense. There’s a reasons the cfos in each province wanted the final say otherwise they would’ve just centralized it and have the CFP approve it.

It's not the CFO is doing nothing. They're just responsible for their own province.

But they would need to send out letters stating copy of the membership to see its valid. As in NS even though a club membership is valid till last day of the expired month. They wont accept memberships for transfers that is 30 days from expiring.

Why would an NS CFO approve a transfer in ON with no club membership when he won't do it in his own province ?

CFO offices are provincially funded, they won't work for other provinces for free.
