Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

he means Registration Certificate to arrive in the mail after a transfer is approved,

and In my case, my latest restrict Registration Certificate paper arrived exact 2 weeks after the transfer was approved.

Yep, me too---got the transfers approved after 10 weeks of wait. Just upset I'll have to wait another 2-3 weeks before I can take them to the range!

There’s more information on the Transfer Notification than there is on the Registration. I’ve also never in my life been asked to produce the registration so...

Just an update. I have a few transfers pending from the end of April. After 11 attempts yesterday I was finally able to get through to the CFO office. The lady I spoke with said they're working on April 22. I asked her how a transfer I had from April 27 was approved a week ago on June 30. Her reply was that it must have been a fluke.

I swear they must have two people working on these. She then told me that it'll probably be another two weeks before the two I asked about are approved. Unbelievable...

Probably more than 2 people... Each has his/her own pace. What a s##t show.

I was being sarcastic. I know they're working from home. They've told me that they're operating at half staff due to distancing (right). Anyways you're right, it's one big dumpster fire.

They most certainly are not working from home? Where did you get that idea ?

If they were able to work from home....they wouldn’t be running half staff and there would be no backlog.

There are 3 girls working on transfers at the moment.

I found out that even though waiting for the transfer to be processed is hard, waiting for the registration certificate to arrive after you've already picked up the firearm is even more painful.

I have been waiting on a pistol transfer since April 26. Everyone has to do their part, fire off a complaint to the ombudsman and sooner of later he will get tired of seeing them and light a fire under their ass. Just got done sending mine.

Do you know for a fact that there are three people doing transfers? I was told a month or so ago from a staff member they were operating with half staff. Not sure I believe this. If they're not working from home tell me why would someone receive the transfer approved email sent at 12:30 AM?

As for receiving the paper copy from New Brunswick mine always arrive 7 days after the email.

Got my transfer notifications last Monday, almost at midnight hours. The Wednesday was stat holiday, so today is 6th business day. Hopefully I'll get the paper registrations this week, itching to take my new toys to the range.

Just filed a complaint with the ombudsman, if more continue to do the same we might see a change

Eventually people will realize that the Ombudsman is actually directly part of the problem not a solution.

The real purpose of the Ombudsman is not to resolve issues, certainly not serious or established ones.

It merely creates the illusion of doing so. It actually perpetuates the problems by solving nothing.

How long have people been complaining? How long has nothing changed but gotten worse?

This is the dictionary definition of doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.....................

The real solution is to complain about the Ombudsman being at fault directly regarding an issue not being solved not just complain about the issue.

The real issue is the Ombudsman not resolving it but making a hobby out of perpetuating the same problem.

Then you will really see what they are worth and what is behind the curtain.

Mail servers can queue messages, the fact you got it at midnight means nothing.

Yes, I know for a fact, there are 3 girls working in the office on transfers. The reason you got one at midnight is because they can only have so many people in the building do to COVID, and some of them are forced to work a night shift as there are less people in the building.

Again it wasn't me that received the email. I'm not sure if you guys are defending the CFO office or not. Other provinces can process a transfer in under a day, why does it take ours months to do it? If they can only have three people working in the office tell me why they can't work from home? This is 2020 we have secure VPN's and firewalls. I'm about done with this thread, I just want my guns I've paid for!

Agreed, disgraceful service.

I just called the retailer I purchased from today . I’ve been Waiting since April 28th and he told me they are processing April 20th ish right now . He also said they have a back log of about 6500 transfers . At this rate I’m lucky if it’s completed in 2 weeks from now . He also said they have 3 people working from home and we all know how government employees work from home lol
