Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Hello, Mr. Ford

While your government performs extremely well in this difficult times, there is one office in Ontario which demonstrates absolutely disgraceful performance - and it's Ontario Chief Firearms Officer's office.
The Backlog of unfulfilled transfers of restricted firearms runs for longer than 2 months already, while other provinces' CFO manage to keep a usual (pre-pandemic) pace of a few days (if not hours) for an approval.
Personally, I almost submitted a new order for a handgun which I did already buy about a month ago - as I totally forgot about that one!
Please take immediate measures to improve service provided to licensed gun owners in Ontario, we are suffering more than enough under relentless flow of hate, pressure, bans, prohibitions and confiscations of our legally obtained property by the Federal and municipal governments.

Thanks you for your earliest attention and actions,
SLToronto, Toronto, Ontario taxpayer

Nice, very well written. Please post his response when you receive one, curious to see if he can do anything to help deal with the 8000 plus restricted transfer backlog. Mine being one of them from May 21st.

I might worry the store I bought from about 3 weeks back will go out of business before the transfer comes through, I mean things were already hard for the LGS places even before the ban and got a lot worse after May 1.

this is exactly what I'm afraid of as well. not to many small business can handle being shut down for several months.

My case is 9 weeks.

Do they [the CFO] ever email when the transfer is processed, or they just email the seller?

Normally you have to ask them to attach your email address to the transfer application that they sent to your CFO. Today I initiated a transfer and she asked me if I would like email notification when the transfer was completed. I said sure thing.

You could call anytime and have them add email notification. It won’t speed up the process but it will speed up you getting notified when the transfer finally gets done. That goes for both the buyer and seller in private deals.

Thanks. I already called and attached my email to the 3 transfers I've got pending. I was just wondering if this is just pro-forma, or they do actually email people! I'd like to know as soon as it's approved, so I can prompt seller to start shipping. Been waiting for months, every day is a day wasted not shooting those guns!

Dont bother calling...slows down things as what lil staff they have also answer phones

Emailng and or ombudsman, MPP harrassment is the way to go....altho its on deaf ears
