Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Amazing that IRUNGUNS & Marstar were able to get transfers started on the same day. I'm still waiting for 2 Ontario-Ontario transfers here... hopefully coming soon. My transfer numbers are 5894*** and 5913***. I purchased with Tenda on May 30th and June 1st, and did not receive transfer numbers till June 6 and 14th, respectively. That's a 7 day and 13 day delay. I'm not holding it against them though. I hate calling the CFO myself, and can't even imagine how many people they had to process.

I'm super impressed with Marstar. They got my transfer done right away and emailed the reference without me asking. I ordered July 14 and their reference number is close to my Cabela's June 3rd buy because Cabela's took forever to initiate.

Update, I called the ON CFO to see if I had been flagged for a bunch of purchases in a short time. Had a good chat with the lady, who said that it used to be more of a concern, but with the freeze announcement they are seeing LOTS of purchases from folks who know it's now or never... I explained my multiple purchases of the same handguns & they put a note on my file that I had called explaining that I was buying them for me, my wife (who I will transfer some to) and my daughter (who goes to the range with us but is too young to have her own just yet).

The lady went through each purchase & gave me the Reference numbers for them. She also told me what date each business submitted the transfer request... Some surprised me, like Cabelas... Have a look...

Wolverine June 5th 59117**
IRUNGUNS June 11th 59310**
Cableas Jun 12th 59317**
Tenda Jun 21st 59464**
Canada First June 24th 59516**
Marstar Jun 30th 59576**
SFRC July 13th 59673**

Tip of the hat to IRUNGUNS & Marstar for same day starts on the transfers. SFRC for next day, Wolverine for two days after, Cabelas 9 days later & last but not least Tenda 10 days later.

My guess, and I told the lady at the CFO this, was that I would not see the last of these transfers until Remembrance Day Nov.11th! That's my guess... See what happens I guess.

Cheers
Jay

Thats funny, similarly I called the OPP who came to see me from the same deal years ago and had a quick chat.
He said that transfers were slammed and that he was in the same boat as us waiting.

That’s pretty poor business practice to be 9 and 10 late in getting the transfer started. Cabelas has lots of employees and there’s no logical excuse.

Tenda at 10 days is piss poor… If they have the ability to sell all those firearms, they have the ability to process the transfers as well. For them, it’s done on a computer and not on the phone so if the staff won’t stay later to get it done, it’s management’s responsibility.

It’s another thing altogether if Tenda sold guns that they didn’t have serial numbers for and waiting for the distributor to get them the numbers. Hope that’s not the case, but one other business sold guns that they didn’t have in their possession and later on found that those guns went to a different vendor. Not a good situation…

Yeah tenda put mine in like 3 days after purchase which really screwed me. If they put it in on the same day I would have it by now. Since they did that I probably won't get mine until mid August - mid September. I get that it was hectic and that the system was going down but if other stores could do it then in my opinion it's unacceptable that they couldn't. I'll probably do everything I can to not make future purchases there unless they're the only ones with what I want.

Amazing that IRUNGUNS & Marstar were able to get transfers started on the same day.

I bought the two Heritage Rough Riders online and LATE in the evening from SFRC, so I think they would have gotten the transfer in same day as well if the order had been during business hours.

Same thing for Wolverine, I bought it later on a Friday & they started the transfer on a Sunday! Which means they were working the weekend without even taking off the Sunday. That's service & dedication!

I know of two business, who had staff &/or owner working in the middle of the night to initiate transfers as that was when they could access the portal easiest! They are really going all out for folks in the Shooting Sports & I appreciate them.

Cheers
Jay

Ummm... Yeah. Won't be shopping at Tenda any longer, seems it's like where customer service went to die. Saw another thread where they advertised norinco nz75's as being Israeli surplus and shipped at least 2 of these guns without firing pins after guys waited 2 months for transfers. Nope. Not on my list anymore.

Yeah when i was in the market for a Mosin I went to tenda first to check there stock and asked for a mosin. After being shown one I inquired whether or not they were showing me a Chinese mosin or a Russian one and the sales person laughed at me like I am an idiot and told me that there is no such thing as a Chinese mosin. Their customer service always seemed to be lacking.

Can't say I've seen a Chinese Mosin forsale.. I know they exist, but have not seen a Type 53 forsale in 20 years owning firearms.

Same here. My June 5 order has a transfer number sequentially before my June 4 order; and in the tracking spreadsheet, the transfer numbers align with an approximate date of June 9!

I went back many many pages on this thread and it appears that we are still on around June 1. Would I be correct in assuming this, I see a few lucky people have had later dates approved but the log jam still appears around June 1st.

I'm assuming this is when the peak purchase panic happened.
It might take a while to get through all those transfers.

In Ontario Purchased from a business in Sask.

Purchased Online: May 31st
Date CFO received May 31st?
TX 5883### Dated July 7th
CFO Emailed me Transfer July 7th :)

Purchased something from Tenda 1same day, Tenda said they started the trasnfer June 21st! No word on that transfer

That's exactly why I asked. The thing was covered in cosmoline and they didn't have any gloves/tissue so I didn't want to examine the markings. I was hoping I stumbled onto a type 53 but the guy behind the counter literally said that China never made mosins.

May 31st? Yes, a few weeks ago. June 1st? Nope! Still waiting!

Yep, the Ontario log jam started on 1 June and it’ll be quite some time before my 7 June transfer gets to the top of the pile. I’ll be lucky to get in in September at the rate it’s going

I'm hoping people continue to update and post here with their transfer numbers when they get approved. I feel like my number should have been called all of last week, but no dice. Maybe any day now...

Edit:
I believe transfer #s are more telling than the date: I have two outstanding still from 5890### and 5893###.

Damn, I've got 5894### and 5913### so I'm still 4000 approvals behind you.
