Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Waiting since June 4 not my 1st by far. Don't hold your breath Buddy. Then again who knows with this dog and pony show.

Ordered May 31st, looks like the retailer wasn’t able to initiate the transfer until late june 1st- early june 2nd. I knew it was going to take a while but now it’s getting ridiculous, over 9 “business” weeks and still likely 2-3 left to is absurd on its own. Thinking it will likely be Christmas before I see my 2nd which is more than 30,000 sequentially behind my first. My 3rd? Only 75,000 more to go. See it next June, I’ll probably forgot I bought it by then. Tax dollars hard at work.

June 6th order placed for:
Colt Anaconda 44 mag 8"
Girsan Regard Stainless Railed 9mm

Nothing yet but a private transfer was initiated on June 7th and I received it from the seller a week ago. Israeli FN Hi Power

I was talking to the ON-CFO today and they're still working on June 1. For my June 10 retail to private purchase from a BC dealer (5930###), that means I'm still weeks away from an approval.

They've been working on June 1 for more than the last 2 weeks and are still not done June 1. Gonna be months just for June 3rd to start.

Order placed with Ontario dealer may 31 after hours, transfer initiated June 1. Ref 5887### received from dealer June 21. Approved by CFO July 15.
I spoke to Ontario CFO office today and was told that they are now processing June 1. I have a bunch in queue, first one being June 2. She told me the transfers will take about three months from initiation!! So My June 2 will be ready September 2!! Good grief!

I am surprised that the businesses and sellers are not pressuring the government to get this moving (maybe they are?). They are the ones with the most to lose monetarily if there is an OIC that halts everything. There were over 20,000 guns sold with perhaps an average price of $750 per unit. That is $15 million dollars changed hands (sort of) that could just be stopped and a potential of close to 2 million in tax revenue to the government. It would seem that people in the gun business would or should be the ones on the blower to their rep politician to see if they can get this transfer process sped up particularly in Ontario.

I get that they want the process to remain safe (I am all for that) and all the bases covered to make sure it is done right, but maybe adding a few more hands to the oars for a couple weeks might be a smart move to get this backlog dealt with. The ta potential tax revenue alone from the process would pay extras salaries needed.
