Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

How do they process the ones where a buyer was able to get through and complete the transfer one month after a seller initiated that?
Let's say it is transfer # 5,900,000 and the current sequence is 5 970 000.
Where would CFO put the case, right after 5 970 000? That would create even bigger mess unless they have their own internal reference numbers as well.

Then the CFP would issue transfer #5,970,001 as in a private sale both buyer and seller must be vetted prior to issuing a transfer #.

It’s better to call it a reference number and once the seller does the initialization the reference number is given and that’s the same number that the buyer uses to complete his end no matter if it’s done same day or many days later.

Then the CFP would issue transfer #5,970,001 as in a private sale both buyer and seller must be vetted prior to issuing a transfer #.

That’s not the case at all. Where did you come up with that?

Has this topic ran off the Rails? re: Transfers times.
Pin drop tic toc. Looks at watch Sunday hmm,,,
Ya soo,,,probably cheaper and safer for a criminal to get one off the streets.
Few thousand dollars and a Tekno geek can make a steel barn into a safe.
8000+ units that’s a ballpark 10-20M
Someone is sipping Bubbly thanks Trudeau.

With GST/HST, Trudeau's raking in money as well.

Transfers are initiated electronically with one set of numbers for all provinces.
Think of the butcher shop number tickets. Currently they're dispensing 600###x and up.
Provincial numbers seem different only because the CFOs are processing their province's requests at differing speeds.
Provinces with fewer handgun owners are progressing faster. Ontario has some of the highest numbers of handgun owners.
Also the CFO reported that 1/3 of all purchases were from Ontario.
BTW, that doesn't mean an equal division of issued transfers in time.
There could be clumps of ON transfers, followed by clumps of Alberta transfers, etc.
That would explain why sometimes approvals proceed very slowly and then much faster as most transfers are from other provinces.

awesome thanks that helps, I was wondering why I would see numbers past mine get approved while mine was not and so on cheers

I am a little confused about the reference numbers in this section. I also see the numbers surpassing my reference number without mine getting approved. I thought that this was for Ontario transfers!!!
Please indicate which province you are getting approved from!
My reference number is 5937### I think it was initiated July 14th (business). I live in Ontario

Ontario on June 1 still. July 14 will likely take another 12+months unless their pace changes.

You're seeing people post ontario initiations... what we need data on are completions

Any more updates on transfer numbers? Completions? I think most of us appreciate little updates.

My transfer was initiated on June 25 and my numbers are 595 so i think you transfer was June 14th or your number is wrong.

The 1800 number kept me on hold for 10 minutes this mourning and then hung up,every subsequent call was too busy call back later-much like it has been for the last week.

How are person to person transfers supposed to get done?
I am the buyer in this case and a week ago friday I received the call to start the transfer and was given the transfer #-the seller I was informed would be called later that day,to date he has not yet been called.Got transfer started via email sent by the seller.

BTW aug 12 transfer # was 59956xx which is likely common knowledge here.
