Hey guys...my 73 year old eyes finally made me do it. My Rossi and I have entered the 21st century:
Some may call it sacrilegious but I call it a necessity....just can't focus on open sights any more. She is chambered in 45 Colt I just ran my BC griz load thru the chrono it's a 300 grain Hornady giving me a muzzle velocity of 1401 fps for a muzzle energy of 1307 ft-lbs. Stand in front of that if you dare!
I'm crowding 60 now with a floater in me shootin' eye and put XS peep sights on my RH carbines. I use a Bushnell Holo Sight on my trap gun & have no issue with modern red dot sights. Compact reflex sights like the Burris Fast Fire work well and weigh ####-all. That 300 gr. Hornady will do the job on a big critter that don't know it's coming inside 50 yds.

You will just need to reposition the hole once you have it fit.
Is the tang fitting tight right now and pushing out and separating the stock at all in the wrist area? Reason I ask is there is quite the gap up near the hammer along the side....
Mine was a Rossi 92 blank
I swapped mine for a curved lever/curved lower tang/deluxe stock... From another rossi![]()

What tics me off is the fact that it was bought pre-finished ready to install. Now they do say some minor fitting may be necessary but this goes way beyond that so much so if and when i do get it to fit I will have to refinish the complete stock. I sent an email to Boyds with photos so I expect them to reply after Easter is over.
Shellshuckers stock looks pretty nice.
