UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Well...I'm someone & I want left handed holster from pending Mares Leg!

What next?

OK BB, whats next is that I'm working on getting an example of either the actual mares leg in question or the carbine version of the rifle its based on. Once I've got that I can take a pattern and start taking orders. I am looking to make a very usable holster that allows a quick draw, has decent retention, comfortable, and to bring it all in at a price that keeps your money in Canada. I'm not gonna mention any prices for features before I've even made one but I will be offering different finishes, colours, and options from a basic working belt/holster combo to a fancy version with lining and tooling. Hang tough and we'll get it all sorted and, hopefully, get you into a new rig!!
Cheers,

Awesome

For my part don’t care about the price...it is what it is (within reason). I’m not worried about lining or tooling...it’s all about function. I’m pretty open about the colour but I think I lean towards a nice dark stained leather

Mornin BB,
I won't get into details here, just PM me, but to everyone, if thats the type of holster you want then thats no problem. If you want a bare bones, working holster, we can get you that. Something a bit fancier, then I'll do my best. I am experimenting with inletting different leathers into the holster or belt, so that may be an option.
Stay tuned!,

PS-As for price, when I know what you want for a belt/holster combo I will be better able to give you a price. One thing is for certain, these will be cheaper than most, 100% hand made, and ALL CANADIAN!!:)

Well guys i just got back from a day of shooting the 16 inch carbine version of this gun and i've gotta tell ya, its' about as much fun as you can have with yer pants on :) And very impressive spout of fire out the end, it should be just insane with the mare's leg. Tho i can tell ya these guns are going to be a fair handful with 44 mags and warm loads :D

Can't wait :)

Hey all,
Well, here is the latest sample I've done. This gives an example of the patterns that can be done as well as the latest dye I've tried. I would advise those who intend to use their belt/holster rig LOTS in the outoors to go with this finish as it is oil based and should provide the longest protection. You will see pics of two different edge colours, an example of the stitching that I use, as well as some letter stamps. If you look at the pic of the narrowed part of the sample, you can see that it looks wrinkled and worn; I purposely did this to show how the belt/holster will look after lots of use.
Cheers!!

One of these in .22LR might be attractive for the guys that would like to carry a .22 handgun for grouse when out looking for deer and moose.

Well - you CAN make .44 shotshells. Basically a similar load out to a 410 shotgun. Sierra makes the component 'bullet' shotcups i believe.

I have no idea how they pattern but it'll be worth experimenting.

for my 24" legacy li'l gun is tops for velocity with 240's, average 1975fps max loads (a few even broke 2000), and 270's at 1700fps. with 300's H110 and li'l gun are almost identical at around 1500fps, i have yet to try the heavy lead, 310's, 325's, and 340's. recoil is surprisingly stout for a 44 mag rifle, but thats a lot of power, more than i expected.

What's the accuracy like? I've got an 1894...

Out of curiosity, would the .44 mag version be able to handle .44 Russian and .44 Special also?

Should be able to shoot both.

44 russian will lead to a degree more buildup in the chamber possibly, but still doable. Also, might be loading issues, but probably not.

I'll be trying it in any event.
