VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

there is a small tab on the front of the stock arm that contacts the hinge, hit the tab lightly with a file, it will loosen up. Careful not to take too much off if you go too much you can make your stock wobbly.

Sick Deckard & that's in 556?
Nutz!

Occasionally I get PMs about the 58 and I like to discuss them to the wider audience, partly because I don't have all the answers. Feel free to comment.

I would like any feedback, personal experience or info. about B&T,Bruger & Thomet, handguards for VZ-58.

My general impression that it is well made and well overpriced. That company's rails can be the price of the rifle, depending on where you bought it. My option would be to buy Canadian first (as a top handguard) and then Israeli as a plastic unit, in that order.

I haven't seen that picture of the Bulldog. I'll put it in the FAQS - thanks.

Speaking of which, if any of the Cdn. designers of rails, adaptors and do-dads want to post smaller photos here, I will add them to the FAQS. The one's you have are quite large.

Then it wouldn't be a stretch to make a short barrel and Krink gas block. :)

Yeah but then they would also have to make short hand guards and a short piston. Then there would be all that tedious testing.:ar15: It would definitely be a challenge.

I'm not sure if Lector could get his Homies to work on this project. Especially to offer complete rifles, with Dlask XB2's, stock adapters and extended mag releases. I think it would sell pretty damn good. But what do I know?

Edit: I like the photos Lector posted above as well. I would like to see one done up with Lector's preferred scope and mount.

No, I don't think there is much point shortening the gas system but an existing rod could be cut from the rear, I suppose. What you describe is an awesome package. The metal handguards can be CNC shortened, but there is a dealer here that is making wooden furniture with a CNC set up. Now, if it could be programmed to look Krinky? :D

I'd like to see a finished version of the 58 target like in Lectors post above and the 58 "Krink" that we are talking about.

Deck you should mock up the Krink with your photoshop talents including the XB2 so we can dream.

If only we knew someone who had the influence to make it happen....:D
