VZ58: Optics, sights & mounts. update sept

After serious deliberation I have finally decided to scope my CZ858.
Rail: http://interammo.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=67
Scope: POSP 4x24M

I might post a detailed write-up but for now just a few pics.

Installation was VERY EASY! No threading involved and the rail itself makes it virtually impossible to install it in a wrong place.

You still need to watch for the alignment with the barrel and preferred elevation adjustment range. I've installed mine to have 300m chevron centered, not 100m. That way I'm OK to at least 600m with 4x24M POSP.

Range report to follow.

OK, here we go...

I mounted my POSP on an AK rail. Work great but after seeing your, i'm tempted to upgrade for the new Interammo rail. I sen my cz to be nitro coated by Rauch Tactical but i might try that new rail when my cz get back.
So 2 screws to mount the rail? Rock solid? Waiting for your range report to see how the scope hold zero when you take it off the rifle.:)

svt1940,

the rail indeed is attached by two screws but since the threaded part is not a thin-skinned receiver, the torque could be much higher. I made sure that holes are very tight. And I can always add a few extra pins. ;)

I don't expect any return to zero problems as long as the contact surfaces are clean, I'm planning to burn a few hundreds rounds before making any conclusions on repeatability.

BTW, it's possible to add an extra (removable) stop to the rail to move the scope ~1" back if I ever need to play with red dot or weaver adapter.

So much info....sorry if this has already been answered but i looked for awhile and gave up.

Sighting in the irons on this gun, it apears only the front sight can be moved horizontally. I take it you tap the front sight apparatus with a hammer/brass punch to adjust for horizontal drift, just as I do with my old .300 savage rifle's sites?

Curious

Much better option, but I'm slightly biased. But guaranteed not to bend on tight sights and carriers a lifetime warranty.

Best CZ58 scope mount ? Long term review

I have been testing this -

cantcombo.jpg

on one of my 858's with an ACOG and was surprised at consistant 3 rd. one hole 100 yd groups. If I was sloppy on the trigger the groups were 1/4 to 1/2 inch at 100.

After playing with the set up for several weeks I am of the opinion that it is the easiest accurate scope mount out there.

However - I did find that removing and reinstalling the rail from the stock-receiver mount meant a minor loss of zero every time.
Also, after liberal application of break free into the receiver, the clp migrated to the stock receiver mount screw and it loosened. After loctite on the screw all is well.

For long scopes Marstars sks brass deflector would work well.

All in all - a very fine piece of kit.:D

Wolf non corrosive 124 grain hp military classic target ammo -
Czech corrosive is usually 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches at a hundred with a few groups 1/2 to 3/4's of an inch ( all ammo sorted off the ogive with a sinclair comparator ) -

Ah yes, that's you - I recall someone sorting off the ogive. How do you sort? How many thou do you group by?

Sinclair caliper mount comparator - and group the cartridges as closely as possible .

I lay labeled boxes at my feet in front of the tv , measure and toss.
