The purpose of the forward casing ejection is to make the rifle fireable both left and right handed with out modification. The big downside to bullpups is they can only be fired left or right handed due to the ejection port being right there next to the face. I suppose there are some uses for it. Not sure what FN intended but it might be nice for infantry soldiers to not bang out hot casings to fellows to their right. Or...if used with a silencer, you somewhat eliminate the sound of the case banging about on the walls(and can fashion a casing catch net...)
