What does everyone use as their "bush" gun?

I just got myself a new "field" gun in 25-06. Since this is not a good calibre for taking with me on drives through the bush, or for sitting in heavier cover I am interested in what other people have used? What is the maximum distance you will shoot at game with it? What big game have you taken with it? I think I would like to get a lever action, and I had my eyes on a Marlin 1895G Guide Gun in .45/70. Just looking for opinions here.

I used to use a 94 Winchester in .30-30 with great success, but have given up on using modern arms, and now only use my Lyman Deerstalker in .50 cal. I did use a Handi rifle in .45-70 for a few years, and it sure knocked the Deer down fast.

Was a 12 gauge Rem 870 with a 18.5" barrel with an extended mag tube, then a T/C Contender Carbine in 45-70, then a Rem 7400 carbine in 30-06 and now a Marlin 1895GS 45-70.

I just bought a new 20" barreled stainless steel LSI Puma M92 454 Casull yesterday so eventually when I have it set up the way I like, it will be a toss up between this one and the 1895GS.

Winchester 94 in .30-30. I keep my shots under 100 yards and have used it on deer and a nuisance black bear back when we had problems with bears in our yard growing up out in the country.

Its a handy, quick acting rifle with plenty of power if ranges are kept reasonable.

Usually one of my Rem pumps in 280(red dot on carbine,1.5-5 leupold on rifle). This year I used my Rem7600 in 25-06 with 1.5-5 leupold.Just pick your holes and shoot around the brush.Atleast thats what I try to do.It worked this year because I shot 6 deer with it,and where we hunt it is thick. Also we use dogs for drives.
When I chase I use My old 30-30 with peep.

Mosberg 500A, 12.ga, collapsible stock with a three point sling. I can put six in the mag and one in the chamber. I load one 00 buck shot, one slug, one 00 buck shot, one slug, etc.

Rem 7600 Carbine 30-06 with AR adjustable pistol grip stock and Aimpoint Comp C 2X red dot mounted forward of action. Just about as slick as seal sh*T on an iceberg! Really does well with 180 grain AccuBond hand loads

Why do I need a bush gun? Anything I can use on the plains or in the mountains would also work in the bush. I suppose the 18.5" mossberg 500 with the pistol grip would be 'handiest' in the really thick stuff, but if I was hunting (as opposed to hiking/camping/whatever), I'd stick to the 338 or 7mm08, depending on what I was planning on shooting.
