What does everyone use as their "bush" gun?

No one's mentioned 338-06? I use my 338-06 with 225 Nosler partitions, (barrel shortened to 22") for lugging around thru thick stuff. It's even got legs for longer open field shots if the need arises. Pretty versatile.

Bolt action

I use my bolt action 300 Winchester magnum with a 24 inch barrel for spring bear hunting, and there is thick bush here, but big clearcuts too.

I have two iron-sighted 30-30 Winchesters, but you see bears around here anywhere from five to 500 yards away, so I want to be able to comfortably shoot from five to 200 yards if I want to.

My fav right now is the remmy 870 with a 12.5 inch barrel and a 4 position stock. It shoots acuratly up to 100 yards in 4inch groups. stopping power is like 50-60 yds, but i've never had such a easy handling gun in the bush. Evster you should think about getting one.

Although I have many rifles that would fit the bill, this is what I bought my 8X56 Mannlicher Schoenaur for, 20" barrel, fast action, lightweight, and a good sized bullet!
