My default cartridge is the 22/250. If saving hides is an issue you have to be careful with bullet selection, and range comes into play, because velocity matters a lot too. My stand by bullet is the Berger 52 grain varmint match. A choice that has already been mentioned is Winchester white box 46 grain. Perfect hides are the norm then, but its sort of a 300 yard choice. If dead coyotes ade the goal, a 22 Middlested is great with my choice of 80 grain Bergers. 1000 yards is in the game then. One of the most sucessful coyotes hunters I know used 62 grain Seirra soft points in his. One set up for summer loads and one for winter. Its hard to argue with a guy who killed 5-700 coyotes a year for decades shooting right handed rifles lefthanded. Thats the only identity hint I’ll offer.
