Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

The worst I have fired was a double barreled 4 bore rifle, 1850 grain bullet and 400 grains of black powder, next would be my 50 140 sharps sporter with a 600 grain bullet and a case full of black powder

We actually had an unofficail "tough guy" event at our club.

Everyone brought what they thought would hurt the most, and laid 'em on the benches. Everyone cycled through them, each shot you put 5 bucks in the can, and keft going until you couldn't shoot anymore. Last guy to shoot wins half the pot (the other half went to those who supplied the ammo) There were a few 10 ga's, 378's, 416's etc...but what REALLY hurt was an old SXS african plains rifle in 460 nitro express. Well, it came down to two guys, and they were running out of ammo......so they decided to "step up" the competition a bit. Yup.....both barrels at the same time.

They flip to see who went first, and the gun is shouldered. I swear to god, you could actually SEE the guys shoulder dis-locate.

The other guy conceded defeat:D

My dad's old single shot CIL 12 Ga. Started shooting it when I was 13 and weighed under 80 Lbs. I have almost got my flinch that I developed from it under control (20 some odd years later).

A damn old 308 Norma I had built kills out the front cripples out the back.
Call him Lucifer. The other 308 Norma I have kicks but not like that mule.
It is way worse than my 338, 375 HH and 358 Norma they are actually nice to shoot.
3 Rounds through Lucifer and I shake like a dog crappin razor blades.

Without a doubt the 375rum I traded to Ardent,Rem.700 LSS
It was brutal.Regards 375rum

Oh, and the first shot was benched with a 300gr A Frame at 2800fps, 5100ft-lbs ME, made me wonder if I ever wanted to pull that trigger again. I think that gun's problem is that it weighs so little, and has no brake. If it weighed 10lbs and had a brake, it wouldn't be such an abusive partner.

I was looking at an LSS in 375 a while ago, but decided it wold be too light to be fun... Im no wussy, but I'd put a break on it to shoot it. No sense on shooting patterns with a gun that hurts too much to shoot comfortably.
The stock didnt appear too comfortable for controlling recoil. Chilly's 300 RUM became a whole new beast when he replaced the factory stock with a HS...
Maybe it will make it more user friendly...
that or a hogue:D @ 2lbs 13 oz's, it will atleast add some weight:D

Yep, great to carry, an angry woman to shoot.

My uncle had me shoot his 12 guage that had the barrel shortened as well as the stock (bush gun for bears). I was 12! Good thing I was in the prone position:D . He then followed that one up with his 45/70 with hot hand loads:mad: .

This is the same uncle that offered me "Swiss Chocolate", but it turned out to be his Copenhagen! Ah... to be a kid again:rolleyes:

It seems the maverick 88 has surprised a couple other people, so I don't feel bad. Maverick 88 19" barrel, off the bench with 3" slugs. I felt like I got ROCKED with a 2x4, but continued to shoot a "group". When I got back to the truck, I had a bloody nose. (and nothing had hit my nose)
D

Hey I don't feel so bad now...as this is the shotgun I have also. :D

2 years ago, i fell asleep waiting for a deer. When i woke up, there was a mid size buck eating in my carrots pile about 80 yards away. I had, at the time, a .300 win mag sendero mounted on a AICS.

Unfortunately, i was holding my butt stock over my shoulder. Remember, i fell asleep. So every time i was trying to get into a proper position to fire, that damned buck was looking at me. I had to shoot the rifle canted and the butt plate over my shoulder while laying on my back.

Got the deer, but the scope got me bad too....!
