Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

My Sharps in 45/120 will put my nose into the tang sight every time off the bench, but the worst is a wildcat I made on the 300rum shortened to 2.1" and necked to .458 and re-chambered in a .450 Marlin lever... 250 gr at 2650fps is mild but 400gr @2200 sure gets your attention! 6 1/2 lb gun with 22" barrel and Sorb-eze slip on pad still too much..

Sorry to have a mundane answer but my Remington 870 Express with 3 1/2" turkey loads is absolutely the worst. Patterning various loads is just not fun. But, when I actually do shoot a turkey, the turkey definately is worse off than me:eek: The way you are forced to shoot while turkey hunting doesn't help either......all hunkered down, back aginst a tree, you've got no "give" so the old shoulder, cheek and second finger of my right get the whole works!!

76mm

Hardest kick? Firing the 76mm turret mounted gun on a Cougar AVGP (now out of service) :( If you don't keep your face pressed into the brow-pad and "ride the gun" it will break your nose every time. Ahhh, memories....

12g mossberg500 with 3 1/2 00buck. I was 11 or 12 and walking back to the car after a goose hunt when I asked my dad if I could shoot his gun, he grinned at me and said "sure son, just make sure it's really tight to your shoulder"

:D great memories.

I would have to say for me the Remington 700 338 ultra meg and I would use it more but the cost of the ammo is to high at $75.00 a box and I can't get them here in town so when I go to SIR I buy a box or two. When I was out one day it caught me off guard and gave me a cut on the forehead (ouch)

I've shot lots of hotter Hornady Light Magnum .303 Brit rounds through my Enfield, kicks pretty good so I installed a slip-on recoil pad. My dad's 20 yo BRNO .30-06 with a plastic butt plate and hot 220 gr loads kicks good, my .45-70 with Hornady loads doesn't bother me nor does 3" slugs through my 870.. My new Rem 700 .30-06 is a pussy cat.

Probably the dumbest one and the hardest recoil was I got talked into firing a 2 3/4" rifled slug through an old Stevens 12 ga 3 rnd pump action with a 28" bbl and a full choke.. Yes, I said full choke. I didn't know any better at the time but between the back pressure and complete lack of recoil pad I mind as well been slammed by a linebacker.. Looking back I still can't believe that gun didn't blow apart. 3" woulda done it I bet. Stupid. It was done over a case of beer and it was started as a joke about killing the old POS freebe rifle, it was almost done seriously.

I don't really appreciate heavy recoil for more than a couple of rounds, for plinking I like light recoil if I'm going to be shooting all day. But that doesn't mean I won't pull the trigger on pretty much anything at least once.. Apparently. At 6'1" 200 lbs I absorb recoil pretty well, especially with my tactical vest on with the recoil pad built in it. LR

My Ruger #1 in 500 Jefferies 9 pound gun will spit out a 535gr bullet at 2400 fps recoil is worse than any other that I have fired

45-70, steel buttplate, loaded with 420 grain bullets at 2,000 fps. I shot less than a dozen of them and then took the rest home, pulled the bullets, and reloaded to more sane levels. Never done it since.

I've only had one fly out of my hands and it was a double 10g that would ocassionaly let go with both sides. One slightly after the other. My Sako Hunter .375 aint exactley a maiden's prayer neither

14in(most likely sawed off:rolleyes:) cooey single shot 12 ga with a 3 in slug. that thing kicks harder that the .375 ultra i fired
