What's the most useless caliber

No, it isn't correct to laugh just because you say it is.
This is fast becoming reminiscent of a certain unnamed hunting forum, you know the one with the most locked threads ?? :D

When & where correct etiquette is observed, especially if you own a .25-06, is when your laughter is directed towards someone that doesn't own one, but wears 'pink'.

The west coast sunshine has let up and after reading some of the posts concerning the 45-70 Guide Gun, I think I'll take mine and a Pedersoli Sharps I have the loan of to the range. Just to make sure the spiders haven't taken up permenent residence.

:)At present, the only one really spoken for is the model 4000 Husqvarna Light Weight 30-06 I've inherited from my Dad. My Son and Daughter are both lefties but my Granddaughter is right so it'll go to her. If I'm lucky enough, I'd like one day to go on a three generation hunt with my Daughter and Granddaughter. That I look forward to. As for the rest, perhaps I should take them with me:p.

I've been whining to my buddy to sell me the Pedersoli pictured earlier but I haven't had much luck on that front. I took it out to the range today and ran a selection of cast loads through it and on the way home, I stopped in at my friends to return it but he said to hang on to it. Said he'd sell it to me if/when he gets an American made Sharps. ;)I tried:p. If I could get another 39 friends like that, I could sell mine and borrow one from each:p.

Anyway, had our little informal range all to myself so I gave both 45-70's a good workout. Oh, at 100 yds out of my 1895GS, the 'warm' 400gr Speer loads and 345gr cast loads using Trail Boss, :eek:same point of impact!! That was a pleasant suprise.

Well in NS .. 223 and 17 hmr are kinda useless because you can only use a 223 for hunting Yotes or plinking, and .17hmr will absolutely liquify rabbit meat , so they are impractical in that sense. The laws here in NS are kinda dumb for hunting so these cartridges have limited sporting use. Both are super accurate and fun though!

223

Underperformed / overpopulated for no reason. You can not hunt with that and can't go to defend anything solely based on 223. Vietnam was lost basically due to this and see the guys in Iraq now carrying M1 Gerand for back-ups - Biggs

Edit: Expected it

 Ok, I just found where this one originated on this thread. Friend, you are entitled to your opinion, in fact your opinion is encouraged in these forums but you really should do some research before you react to something and embarrass yourself. The M1 Garand was and is a 30-06, or .30 cal as it was called in WWII. The M14 that you posted the picture of has never left service in the US and it is a .308, or 7.62X51 NATO if you wish. There is a ton of info out there on the reason why we went to the 5.56, or .223 if you wish, but it never cost anyone a war. :onCrack:

What would take this from a great thread to an awesome thread is the personal experience that you have which lead you to disliking a particular round. Personally MY biggest reason for not liking a certain caliber is the cost. I am not in a position to start reloading yet but when I am, I expect that I will need more room in my safe :D
