What's with the Current Trend of Large-Capacity Magazines in Hunting Rifles

I wouldn't have any qualm about going hunting with this

That is, if it was legal to do so...

I think for shooting competitions involving practical rifle stages, increased capacity in repeater type rifles would be very desirable, especially here in Canada.

Some shooters seem to think that everything concerning shooting has to revolve around a what a hunter needs - not so.

They also seem to think what they do is good enough for everyone else, the fudd mentality is strong in the hunting/shooting world when you get into a lot of the older crowd unfortunately.

Lot of nonshooters feel the same way. Hence their "you don't need a 30 round clip to kill a deer" nonsense. - dan

While I agree, I think hunting rifles generally should revolve around what a hunter needs.

I'm not sure that there are actually any hunting rifles that come with 10 round mags from the factory though. Maybe a handful of crossover target/hunting rifles and scout rifles, both of which can be used for hunting but aren't really designed explicitly for it

Do you need a big old pickup truck to drive to work? Probably not. But it's YOUR CHOICE!!!
Your money, spend it where YOU want. People can't seem to figure out to mind their own business nowadays.
Not all our rights have been taken away yet, so this kinda stupid in-fighting will be the end of us.

A rifles a rifle, if I take it hunting it’s my hunting rifle. If I take it target shooting it’s my target rifle, could be the same rifle. It fills my needs regardless of what the manufacturer calls it.

I couldn't care less about what a fellow shooter/hunter wants as to magazine capacity. If 10 round mags are your choice,
who am I to argue that you do not need these.

But for myself, I cannot see a need for a big magazine, so prefer floorplated hunting rifles over any others. I cannot recall
the last time I shot more than 3 shots at any game animal, so the need is just not there for me. EE.

Good for you bud, buy whatever you like

Take a kimber mountain ascent to a 1000 yard shooting competition and a SAKO TRG on a goat hunt if you want, doesn't change that one is hunting rifle and one is not

There's lots of guys who have 5-10 rounds hanging on the butt stock of their floor plate internal mag rifles. I wonder what that is for ?

IMO, it's a lot smarter to have these rounds in a 5-10 round mag than being lost and bumped while walking through the bush.

This is "stolen" from the "Boar in Ontario thread" - forgive me...

This guy seems to be using a 10 rounder in a Mauser or something. The mag is sticking out, looks really dangerous...
