whats with the hate of for NEA?

I've enjoyed chatting back and forth with Jeff a bit. I've had a few problems which were fixed with no hassle. Week and a half IIRC compared to my KelTec's 6+ months.
I really like my NEA. Jeff had my rifle built, transfer approved and shipped the same day I said "sold". I had some EMT issues, the rifle was in my hands before I could sort out the EMT but Jeff didn't seem bothered by it.

I harass NEA every now and then to rip off the Nemesis Vanquish design in a .308 or 6.5 creedmore. Their rifles are also putting holes in ISIS #######s which I think is pretty awesome.

I think NEA learned their lesson about the court of CGN et el.

How are there rifles used on isis?

I think they said as much, and probably came to the conclusion that they'd sell just as many rifles without having to deal with the endless drama of trying to give updates to or take feedback from people who hate them. Frankly, it's looking like they weren't wrong.

besides shillgate,

The fact they denied issue for a long time, (that some of those issue still crop up).

They bashed CGN "haters" on another forum calling us all a bunch of fools that shouldn't complain about our: broken bolts, unstaked gas keys, sharp edges and tooling marks, out of spec parts and flash hiders that catch rounds.

sure they eventually made things right with those affected.... but the only guns that seem to come up with more catastrophic failures on CGN is norc M305's, that says a lot about QC.... both then and now.

I like the fancy colouring. :)

Only thing I don't like is the muzzle brake. Too effing loud. :)

They're "supposedly" doing giveaways for the Peshmerga.

Not just giveaways...they've sold a lot of rifles over there. Jeff has invited me to check out their setup in northern Iraq a bunch of times but I can never get my schedule aligned, which is a shame because it would be interesting to get a look at what they're doing. Maybe next spring I'll be able to get over.

GuiltySpark, I didn't know buying direct was an option .. if I could chat I would ask about the spec dimensions.

I picked up a 14.5" from them. Awesome little AR15 for under $800 IIRC. I bought it through the IOP program direct but I think now they go through SFRC.

They're in the hands of the Peshmerga. NEA also sends other non-weapon stuff to help those dudes out and have people who had boots on the ground over there. Not in a combat roll (I'd say obviously) but they're still involved.

Got a link?

-broken bolts, unstaked gas keys,

Didn't that issue come from third-party BCGs from a half-decent supplier for the early-gen guns? "OK company x has their own QC so these should be good, and we can get our rifles out the door" is an absolutely forgivable mistake, particularly when they were willing to replace them at no cost, and continuing to complain about that years later is enough to make me roll my eyes.

-flash hiders that catch rounds

It was my understanding that it was incorrect installation of the flash hider by the user, who warped the prongs. Seems silly to complain about that.

In before accusations of being an NEA shill: Had a Gen1 14.5. The only problems it ever gave me were the trigger wouldn't reset sometimes. That went away as I broke it in, havent had that issue for years now. Decided that the upper was way too heavy for my taste and sold it for something lighter. Still have the lower, I quite like it. Mine had no tooling marks and while the rails weren't as nicely machined as some higher end models, I wouldn't describe them as "sharp" either.

Their design is outdated, specially their rail system
Remember their barrel with the blotchy finish?
Out of spec everything
Qc issue
Shillgate
Gray / purple anodizing
Bad bcc
Bad trigger
Bad forward assist
Warranty voided if you fire too fast
And the list goes on.

They have the worst reputation of any firearm manufacturer.

I didn't pay much more than that for my first one years ago (on sale).

link? nope that was like 3 years ago... but it happened. the dialog and screen shots were posted here quite a few times, so feel free to search for it

-The flash suppressor was factory installed... and it blew apart, I saw 3 threads on the FS catching rounds
-The bolt staking was on the company, even if it was manufactured by someone else... If you fail to inspect it before you ship it with your product... you're just as much to blame.
-Totally forgot about the triggers that were junk... quite a few of them broke.
-There were lots of pictures of tool chatter on the receivers, and sharp edges on the rails that could cut you.

Just because the manufacturer replaces these items doesn't make it right...
Its my ammo, My fuel, my time, and my shipping cost wasted on everything that goes wrong. why not just spend the extra $300 in the first place and buy a decent windem instead of dealing with all the grief over 3 months and spending the same amount anyways?

I agree on the Handguard being dated but so is any quad rail. However what else is the outdated design are you referring to?

As for the grey, I like it and have just purchased a grey slick side NEA upper.

The handguard, at the time it was introduced, wasn't that outdated. In fact, their removal of most of the side rails was somewhat innovative back in 2011 when many were still doing fully railed sides. Plus you have to give credit to the fact that it was free-floated which was unheard of on ARs in Canada at that price point then.
Their new handguard design is a lot lighter, m-lock, and is a decent update imo.

they have come along way, I have never had an issue, they just supplied the Kurds with 40,000 units. I would buy one for sure, plenty of parts at SFRC.

Bought NEA PDW 7.5" 762x39 AR in june 2016. hundreds of rounds and keeps shooting. using 'corrosive' ammo, and i thought it was supposed to be very dirty and destructive ammo. so i clean it after every session, either the gun's material/design doesn't allow for much buildup or 'corrosive' ammo is not as bad as everyone thinks. the only AR that costs me $0.18/round...no other AR allows you to have so much fun at such an affordable price! LOVING MY NEA! accurate, well balanced, controlled recoil, cost effective, concealable. AWESOME!!!!
