Whitetail Deer Caliber of Choice...

We've all done silly things when we were young, Cap! Lol, I was just wondering if the
fish and wildlife branch of one of our provinces was stupid enough to allow rimfires to
be used on big game...as far as I know, they're only legal for birds and rabbits.

I like my .243win but this year I'll be trying out my 7mm Rem Mag and 45-70 Govt

I seem to favour 7mms of the non magnum variety. I may hunt with a 9.3 this fall "just cause", but my 7mm-08 will come out the most.

A handful fell to a 25'06 with 100's (TSX or Part)
4 with a 300WSM, and 165's
6 or 7 to a 270WSM, and 130's
2, to a 358Win and 200's
2 with a 7mm-08 and 120's (TSX and Bal Tip)
1 with a 54cal, and a 230gr. 45cal slug

That's my tally as best I can recollect.

The kids have taken about 6 or so with a 7mm-08, and 130's

The Mrs. has taken a pile with a 270Win, using 130 bal tips(2 or3), 100 Original X's(majority with these), and 130 Hornady SP's(new rifle and about 3 or 4 so far)

I stalk them with a 45/70 and stand with a 25-06. If I had to settle on one........45/70.

I go through guns like crazy. If I was to be pinned it would be a .270 WCF in a Featherweight shooting 130gr Fusions.

Depends....I hunt so many different types of terrain and so many different seasons that I can't answer.

I can say that this year I will shoot deer with a 44 mag, 450 Marlin, 338 Fed, 308, 12 ga slug and a 350 grain carbon bolt sporting a 1 5/8" grim reaper broad head

30-06 with 165's has accounted for more than any other for me.

I love my old Marlin dirty-30, great gun for the thick stuff and has done a number on all the deer I've shot with 150gr bullets
