Whitetail Deer Caliber of Choice...

Okay, I'll play. For the tree stand or thick stuff a 444 XLR of course. For the open areas lately a 270 win M70 stainless or a 300 win mag 700 stainless. It is generally wet in our deer season lately so I generally use a stainless rifle.

I don't have much of a choice...

.44Mag is the only hunting caliber I have right now.

Soon I hope to have a decent .260Rem or .270Win bolt-gun for a better all-around lrg game rifle.

:)

6.5x55

Really though anything between a .243 and .458 will work fine. The trick is to place your shot well. A deer shot in the guts with a .338 will go a lot further than a deer shot in the heart with a .25/20.

Hopefully a 60# Bowtech Invasion with 300 spine FMJs and 125 grain Montecs.

If that fails (which it will) then one of my Kimber Montanas...223 or 270 WSM.

.308 Win., 168 gr. Nosler Custom Competitions, 43 gr. Varget. Lots of bullet for deer and more long range capability than I'll ever have. And stupidly accurate out of my Rem. 700.
