I have a Winchester Model 101 28 gauge as well.Have not used it for quite sometime though.Great picture.
In the past I had a 28 gauge Remington Model 1100 and Remington Model 870 Express.Both nice firearms for use in the uplands.Love the 28!
I have a Winchester Model 37A and a Benelli Ethos in 28 ga. Wish Benelli would build a LH SBE III!
My wife managed to wrangle my Rem 100 sporting 28 away from me...sold her Rem 870 Express so she could do it, as my shotgun was "prettier" than hers!
I gave my daughter a Cooey Model 84 in 28 ga I had picked up, after I found my Model 37A.
My mother has now bought herself a CZ pump n 28 ga and is loving it.
We are all using them for ptarmigan, ruffies, spruce hens, sharptails, and duskies. I have taken a couple of snowshoe hares with mine over the years.
My mother got her first snowshoe hare with hers this fall, and I got my first greenhead this fall too.
Do you prefer the Model 37A 28 gauge over the Cooey Model 84 28 gauge?It would appear from your last post that you do.Is there a main reason to do so or did your daughter just like the Cooey more?

Factory loads. The only hand load I used was on the Ruffed grouse & it was lead.Very true words in your first sentence.

I have a honey of an Ithaca 28g I just don’t get to use it
I prefer the 37A just because that was the Model Grandpa bought us kids in a .410 when we moved to the Family farm when I was 11. (purely sentimental reasons!) My daughter does not have this experience.
The 37A is heavier than the Model 84, due to the barrel design in the breech end. The 84 is just a little lighter for carrying all day through the poplar stands hunting ruffies for the ladies or younger hunters.
My wife is recoil sensitive and much preferred the less felt recoil of the heavier 37A when compared to the lighter 84. Probably also why she loves the Sporting 28; heavier overall and less felt recoil in the semi, and its recoil pad vs the plastic butt plates on the single shots.
If you're not getting to use this beauty, would you consider selling it? (Wanting a pump to add to the 28 ga battery! And have not yet run across a Wingmaster. Had a sxs (Fair Iside), but it wasn't cast for a lefty, and didn't fit me, so sold it...and haven't seen one yet)

Well I think you’d be shocked at what it’s worth, not many of these out there and they won’t be made again. These regularly go for 2k plus in the US on the rare occasion one pops up for sale on the auction sites. I not looking to sell it but then again if I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse….

I’m optimistic that we’ll see the company sorted out and have new production again. I was able to get one of the newer Waterfowl model 12ga for a very reasonable price and it’s been great. I priced out a 28ga with exhibition grade straight stock solid rib 26" barrel with chokes and a case colored action and the price was $4200 canadian at the time and they didn't have the wood blanks in stock for upgraded choices. That was when they were still making them so its been a while

I have one as well.However ,mine has the curved stock.When I first bought mine ,I used it a lot,but of late years not at all.
I have the plain jane version of the Ithaca Model 37 28 gauge,but now wish I would of bought one of the high grade versions ,when they were available and not too bad on the cost.
