Whos going for turkey?

I put on to bed last night. (not sure how big). Went out this am before work. 5:15am. Heard a gobble just as I sat down. Made a couple calls and had 3 gobbling like idiots!! 1 from where I'd put him to bed, another on the opposing side of me and 1 directly behind me somewhere.
I was tweaking their interest for sure. They were headed my way, but unfortunately the clock ran out and I had to get home to get ready for work! STUPID WORK!!
Back out tomorrow to take care of business.
So I went out Wednesday, only hens came by. Good to see that they're out there though....
But I go out this morning, in the rain hoping to catch some boys out in the open field. I get set up in a great spot in a fenceline between 2 of our fields. Got arcs pointing at their roost 1/4 mile south downhill and able to shoot into either field to my sides. Prime seat.
At 6am I notice a nice jake coming across the field towards me, pecking on the way. Although he's not interested in my decoys/calls at all and just keeps on trucking. At about 7:30 a couple real nice toms coming up the slope right at my decoys, strutting their stuff, but they're really taking their sweet assed time. Finally just after 8am the lead tom is about 5 yards out of my kill zone and about to get his head lightened. And all of a suddon, wouldn't you F-ing know it a F-ing coyote comes bursting out of the fenceline about 10 yards to my left and snatches up my hen decoy and starts burning across the field. I had to pepper him in the ass with 16ga to get him to drop it. He was way out of range to hurt him but I was so shocked at what was actually happening. So of course my shot scared every bird around back into the bush.
... one minute heart pounding knowing that you're about 10 seconds away from the photographic moment of that tom you've been dreaming about for the last month, next some damn coyote is blowing your mind.
Once the season is over I'm going to take special care to nail the dog with the patchy hindquarter.. I guess there's always tomorrow. And for the rest of the season the bolt action 16ga is staying in the vault to be swapped with something that'll get my 3 rounds off with some authority.

Sorry to hear you didn't get your tom. Well you know where they are now so it's just a matter of time right? Too bad about the yote, If I were you I'd slip a load of BS or slug into my pocket. That should take care of the yote if he shows his face again. Good luck getting your bird.

Hey George, having any size shot greater than #4 on your person while hunting turkeys in Ontario is illegal. Although your suggestion is well founded, the CO's might not appreciate it as much. Coyotes drop to turkey loads just fine if you keep feeding it to them.

now back to the turkey hunt
I got my Turkey on the first day out south of Cranbrook, BC. Saw him standing on the road about a quarter mile ahead. We backed up until we were in a dip of the road and parked the truck. A toot on the owl call gave a reply and that confirmed that it was a Tom or Jake. We went a half mile into the bush and set up our blinds and my partner started calling on a slate. The Turkey came directly in and was attracted to the hen decoys. A single shot to the neck with my Anschutz .22 sporting a 4 power scope dropped the Jake on the spot from about 30 yards. What a hoot!

I have been trying a couple of mornings but the farms I have permission on aren't looking good this year so far.

i dont know why
but i feel some vibes here.. if you are to deal in a young lad in the near future about lawn mowers
..ask him aboutsome of these birds were he works..damm i feel like a fortune teller now
