Why I'm boycotting Wholsale Sport in Edmonton!!

I was in WSS yesterday. There was me, another guy and 10 people who worked there. I didn't need anything. Just killing time and the dog needed to take a leak..

I don't see the point of personal attacks when someone has a complaint. "Grow a ##### Newbie"? I bet you thought of that all by yourself. There are those on this thread who do work there. Iregardless if they care or not, it is off hours and I don't recommend taking your work home with you. But, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try and understand the concept of customer service. You know, the people who pay your bills and keep you employed. Too many busineses are neglecting the fact that it's the people that allow them the privilage of remaining open and not the otherway around. The paying customers should be given respect, and not treated with the mentality "If you don't like it, than bugger off!" Well, we'll bugger off. And take our money with us.

WSS Edmonton sucks. Period. And not just for the reasons that greg stated. Their gun-counter is a bona-fide three ring circus. There are a few (2) good guys, and the rest.....well...

I try to buy all I can at P&D, but sometimes I'm forced to "slum it"...

Their mail-order has been good to me, though.....

I've officially given up on WSS aswell. Went in there last weekend for reloading components, and they had nary a pound of powder or box of primers. So I opted to fight traffic downtown and hit P&D. Despite the store being PACKED, one of the staffers came up to me and asked me if I needed help while I was perusing the vast array of bullets ON THE SHELF, not behind the counter. I aked if they had Varget, and was treated with "How many pounds would you like, sir?" That made me smile. I also asked if they had large rifle and large pistol primers, and was told they were out of Federals and CCI Benchrest, but had lots of everything else. He had the Varget and primers up at the counter waiting for me when I brought the rest of my purchases to the till. That's $130 that WSS won't be getting.

Sure, P&Ds prices are a little higher on guns, but the service... oh man, the service. It' top freakin' notch, and the staff know their #### too.

There is no substitue for good service. So many businesses now operate like you owe them your money, and will not do anything to earn it. As for WSS mailorder they suck as well. Order something from Cabela's and you will most definetely see the difference.

Airborn 69, you've added FA to this thread except for some snide remarks and a bunch of stupid pictures that don't need to be here.

Pretty much, take this as your first warning, there won't be another one. Go find another thread to play in.

Coyote Ugly, a one sentence reply that can have no outcome but trying to start a flame, give it up. If ya don't got something nice to say, don't say it.

I can see where this threads heading.

I can see where this threads heading.

When there is personal names being called like ''Dave George'' etc..I get involved, if he's such a man, he could have talk to him again or the head supervisor at the store instead whining on a website like a little kid.

Not to sure how long you've been a mod, maybe you should lock this thread before it gets out of hands.

by your postings and comments other have made, am wondering if you by chance work at wholesale sports or have buddies that do????

1) no exageration here, just reporting what happened to me earlier today.

2) can't comment about what was in the 2005 catalog as i haven't been able to pick up a catalog in your store for the past two years or so. perhaps this is something else your "understaffed store has neglected" to attend to???

3) guess you will need to continue to imagine as to what would happen if future disagreements would occur on any firearm purchases. as mentioned, i've spent a few $ at your store over the years, having bought a ruger mk II bull barrel, a ruger m77, a 10/22, a ruger mk 11, a remington 870, half a dozen scopes/rings/bases, 3 reloading presses, far too many die sets, plus associated powder/bullets/brass, lots of reloading books/hunting mags, several knives (Bucks are the best) and a couple of sharpening systems, 3 gun cases, a complete archery outfit, three tree stands, blackpowder gun as well as lots of casting items, gear for coyote hunting, and tons of other stuff that i can't readily recall. as the service has gotten so poor over the past couple of years, i'm letting my wallet do the walking right out of the store and won't be back.

4) if you do work at wss, you need to spend a bit more time on learning about customer service and less time posting cute signs and family pictures on cgn. it may be your job you save.

5) no more to come

You need to grow up & suck it up like a man, kiddo.

If this happend to me I would not be happy and would certainly let other gunutz know. From what I read, he did try to talk to the manager.

Service is important!

There is no need for "suck it up" comments. We are the consumers and no we don't have to put up with very bad service.

well Joe it could go lots of places :D

I think in general customer service has fallen in all stores and areas some more than others, I know you goto places like Grande prairie alberta and the job market for lower income jobs is just INSAIN , every darn store and food joint has 20 HELP WANTED signs up and they will take anyone who can pysicaly walk in under there own power , and lets face it no one with any real knowledge on hunting/fishing and firearms is going to be 100% happy working for 12 or 13 bucks an hour especialy were living costs outway that wage by about 40% and I sure wouldnt give up 32-34 bucks an hour just to sell camping gear!
in the end you cant always be mad at the guy behind the counter, his/her employer should be training them for there job, not just hiring them to have staff on the floor , so if your going to write letters and complain realy do it at the bosses for lack of training programs, and push for better customer service that way!

The last time I wss in the big city I went to the wrong location - didn't realize they'd moved.
Got across to where they were and couldn't figure out how to get into thee danged place!!

Some of the clerks that used to work there were complete idjits and this would become very evident when they commented on stuff and offer advice they knew nothing about.

I get turned off real quick by people like that, and tend to shop elsewhere.
IBTL!

wtf is wrong with people? you arent going to shop at their store because someone made a mistake on the price? god forbid someone made a mistake and you dont get to save $20 on a couple items:rolleyes: buddy, you have serious problems if you get so angry over something so stupid.

im guessing they are more than happy to not have to deal with someone that makes such a big deal over $20 anyways;)

You're missing the point. Be it $20 or $200 the principal remains the same. I am a sales professional, if I make an error by misquoting a product to my customers, I "eat" it. I make sure that I don't make too many pricing errors if I want to keep my job.

If I drove 45 minutes to purchase an item and upon arrival the cost went up or even worse, the item is NOT in stock. (I went to buy 1Gig of RAM for my laptop last week. Store said yeah, we have 3. When I got there, they couldn't find the item). I would tend to go ballistic given the same situation.

A "professional" should honor the price, even if the company loses money. In doing so you gain a loyal customer. Flip the customer off and it will cost you a lot more than losing $20 as that customer will make it his life's ambition to tell everyone he knows what jerks you and your company are!
Personally, I would rather lose the $20. You can always make up for the loss on the next sale.

why would you come back and rant on the mods and qeustion there jobs? they volenteer to be here not like there getting paid and on top of that Joe is a decent fair guy , if someone has a problem with a company then let them speek there mind on it others are big nuff round here we dont need nanny airborn to protect our ears or eyes!

:feedTroll:

Griffoneur....so the next customer in line pays for your mistake, you don't really "eat it" then - the customer does. :D Sounds like a wonderful place to shop also.

What sucks about Wholesale is you wait forever at the counter while the sales guys talk to others about hunting exploits, exwives and other crap. While you are waiting to legitmately buy something.

Then you find out they don't have what you need.

At least P&D has all their reloading components, (brass and bullets) out in the open so you can browse yourself. The ladies also keep my 4 year old daughter entertained. They are an all around excellent store.

This is awesome!!!!

Aside from growing body parts and the dreaded "whining".

Wholesale is good for one thing only. Standing in line without a number and have a Tim's and listening to the staff talk. UNBELIEVABLE some of the stuff you hear, out and out bulls**t!!! There are a couple of staff who helped me out. I bought a kick ass pair of boots for hunting and the lady was fantasic. And one of the gun counter guys is ex-military and a good guy. The old farts and the fat mouth breather are the real entertainment.

Wholesales shipping policy, big fat 0!!! Their stock, same. Customer service, same. Even the girl at customer service said it won't be the fall until the catalouge comes out, don't care won't use it anyway.

I am a die hard P&D shopper. They have whatever I need and actually can answer a question. Good service wins loyalty.

My last statement. If your not from Edmonton and haven't been to the store why are you wasting out time with you misinformed comments. If you have a good gun store, enjoy it. I'm envious!!!!

Please don't lock this thread, I still have a full pot of coffee on!!!

People that think you are whining have not shopped at wss or do not appreciate good service, I go to P&D now. P&D prices are a little higher but it is worth it for there excellent, honest service.

Sure...we all want to spend more to get a lot Less merchandise!

Ya, we would all pay $4.00 per liter for gasoline cause you get service with a smile.

:puke:

Actually, it's more like paying $1.10 for gas, as opposed to waiting in line for the $1 gas for a half hour, only to get to the pump and be told 'oh, sorry, we're out of gas, I don't know when the next shipment is coming in. It's all gone to the war effort in Iraq''

Seriously. From my place in St. Albert, it's usually faster to drive past WSS, in to P&D, grab whatever I need, and drive home than it is to wait to be told there's no stock at WSS.

$1.10 would still be too much for the livid tightwad that started this topic, or for better words, childish rant!

Hell, once he settles down he'll be back in Wholesale Sports before you can say "City of Champions"!

I can only imagine how he must treat the gas pump jockey if gas goes up 2 or 3 cents from the previous day! Does he rant at the pump too? Grow up pal.

I was going to say something else but don't want to offend anybody. I do have my own opinion about sales people and it's not one I am proud of. Enough said.
