Winchester Survival Shotgun

Very Nice

Darrell,

You have made quite an impression on a lot of people here, myself included. The videos show some great work in action. I'm going to give this same project a go over the winter with a .410.
Love the Grohmann and Mora knives. I carry a Grohmann #3 and think there is nothing better. I also carry the same firesteel, a Silva Ranger and very old Huntsman compasses and an etrex. I like the look of the flask as well, holds just the right amount?

Thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers, Will

Thanks. It's great to see other people trying similar things with various gauges.
I would love to see how your .410 turns out!
It's nice to have a small firearm to pack with you without making a big show about it. (^ tamer would be sweet too)

BTW the #3 is a great blade :)

When I do this to a 12 gauge, I'll have to be careful about shooting it. I already have a little scar on my nose from pistol grip shooting my Remington 870:redface:. I'm glad I have just ordered some of those 2 5/8" reduced recoil slugs. Those will have to be the only slugs I use.

After reading this thread I decideed to build one myself and after some shopping I found a 12 ga for $45 buks. I used a pipe cutter and a bit of patience to cut the barrel. It stayed smooth and square. Sandind down what was left of the old finish was easy. Deciding on the shape of the handle was hard. I am waiting for the finish to dry so I can see how it looks and works. I am having trouble with the action though. It si really tight when I close it. Is there any solutions for this?:confused:

What would you do if you had a 20 gauge Tamer to work with xJ Darrell?

If I had a tamer i would not have done this project. The tamer is a nice little survival firearm and i wouldn't modify it. Just find a nice way to pack it up! A "take down" case like this would be excellent.

Nice conversion Darrell. David K's cut down should be fairly managble as well owing to the nice palm swell at the butt. Looks like an old flintlock dueling pistol. One of these built on an over/under would be good, but the project gun would be way too costly to justify. Until then, I'll just keep on using my cut-down 870 as a hiking/snowshoeing gun.

Hey I just got my Model 37 as well (in 12g). I will be keeping the stock on it for now, lol, but am curious about their fore grips. Mine is a true PITA do break down quickly, I have to unscrew the fore grip, all the screws in the internals and try and work the thing out, it takes about 10 minutes each time. Is there supposed to be a lever or pull tab or something to make this a bit easier and less complicated?
Also I Like the idea of a pipe cutter, it means i get to try out new tools AND get a new toy in the process! YEA!
Well, I'll post pics when I finish this, Looking at having a 18.5" barrel and an OAL of 30" (I travel to and from California a lot and 30" is their min. OAL, yeah it sucks but meh)
