99% of people that chose to get cash will get less than fair market value.
You can debate this with the Gov, you can write your MP, you can take them to court. You can jump up and down in the street.
**YOU WILL NOT BE COMPENCATED FAIRLY**
you have 4 choices
1) Deactivate as outlined in regs
2) Accept pennies on the dollar
3) Don't comply (and accept risks that come with that)
4) Challenge them on their compensation and likely go to jail if you refuse what they offer (pennies on the dollar)
There is no mediation or negotiation. This isn't Pawnstars.
"The best I can do is... send you to jail..."
I fully disagree but specifically when it comes to the current NR guns and amendment added. The compensation arrangement will be fought in court and amnesty will be extended until the court case is settled. In actual terms for most of the amendment added guns, they DO NOT know if I or anyone have a gun on the list or not so until there is fair compensation why would we voluntarily surrender? Either way we do not get to use it so to me there is no loss to simply wait it out until there is a fair price or change in legislation.
In fact how would the average guy who does not closely follow the news and legislative battles even know he has a newly prohibited gun. The government has this dream that as soon as they pass the leg that EVERY gun owner will scan the list of 2000+ guns, go look at what they have and make arrangements to surrender for whatever they are offering.
If we all wait, the government will see how weak the program is and will have to increase compensation rates to sweeten the pot on the form NRs.
