Coolest pet ever= cougar, trained to attack on command, im 90% sure buttons is dead so why is this discussion matter:p

I hope you're kidding. There was a case in Idaho where a declawed "pet" cougar tried to eat a neighbors child. Domestic cats are independant, wild cats cannot be tamed. They can be conditioned, but that's it.

well you could train the moose to bite people, i wonder how hard it would be to train a moose. it would be hard on the house though because the antlers would keep hooking on the lights

shot a button once........thought it was a doe

anterless tags covers both ###es in AB (no doe tags issued just anterless)

man was it good. I far prefer a button over a doe.

There's a difference between killing and hunting folks! Shooting tame animals is lame. 40+ % of you need to give your heads a shake!

On Anticosti island known for it's plentifull deer, there a quite a few deer with neck bands on around the camps themselves that will even walk into your cabin to eat out of your hand. Hunters are warned to leave these tame animals alone.

You lame "gunners" give us all a bad name.

That would depend on how you view the shooting, I view it as showing up where I'm hunting like any other deer. Not knowing it was a pet.

No, give your head a shake.
I hunt for food and will shoot any legal animal to fill my freezer. One time I was hunting on my father in laws property and tokk a shot at a big doe. It and several other deers ran away. One young deer was left behind. I shot at it and missed. Unfortunately for me I had left my extra ammo in my back-pack at the bottom of the tree. I climbed down and was amazed at the fact that the deer was still standing there. I reloaded and was about to shoot when the neighbour to the back of the property tresspassed and started shouting at me. I told him to shut up, that I was hunting and there was a deer to the right of him and that I was going to shoot it. Which I did. I know stupid, stupid deer for staying there. After that he started whining why I had to shoot the little ones. At that point I reminded him that He was tresspassing, that I was legally hunting, and the deer I shot was a legal animal. I also mentioned to him that I was a food hunter and not a trophy hunter. I later found out that he and his wife had "tamed" two young deer and were feeding them from the back of their house.

So who is stupid, the people who take away the fear of man from WILD animals or the legal hunter hunting to fill his freezer.

So STFU, if people want pets they should visit the pound or petstore and leave wild animals alone. And if they want to see them up close, they should visit a ZOO

The people who habituated that deer to humans were responsible for suppressing its flight instincts. That's why it didn't run like the others.

Whether it was you or another hunter THEY were the ones really responsible for the death of this deer.

...maybe the ribbons and neck band would give you a hint?

Wow. I can't believe an educated individual would think "taming" wild deer is a good idea. Unless that ribon has a DNR transmitter on it, it's going to the dirt.

Whether you approve or not of humans intervening and rendering deer tame or not really isn't the issue. I am not approving or condeming this action myself. It simply exists and you and I won't stop that.

Either you guys are dirt poor or simply morally void to shoot a deer that is willing to walk up to you looking for a bite of your apple. Justify it anyway you like. Shooting a tame animal wearing ribbons and a neck band is LAME.

And please if it should happen, post your picture with the ribboned and neck banded deer and show us all how proud you are!! Maybe you'll make Outdoor Life or Field&Stream or Outdoor Canada....under "DUFUS shoots Molley's pet deer!"

A proud moment for us all!

Just shoot the F$%^king animal and end this thread

I drive past this sign on my way out hunting. Obviously someone has a pet out there. In all seriousness, would you shoot Buttons?
Would you shoot Buttons???

:shotgun: Oh, for Gods sake, just shoot the f$%king thing and put the animal and this thread out of its misery. This thread has gone on for way too long….:sniper:

Cows are tamed and yet you dont give a #### about taking a bite out of a steak, do you.

Same difference. Sorry we are not all like you, what a ####ty place this would be!

177 replies about shooting a tame deer and i only skimmed through some of them and have figured out quite easily that some wouldnt shoot buttons?

wild animals arent meant to be pets plain and simple. the only way i wouldnt shoot a tame deer is if its on your property. as soon as that deer stepped onto property im allowed to hunt....:shotgun: :shotgun: :shotgun: i could care less if it has a sign around its neck that says "my name is buttons, please dont shoot me im a tame deer". id just hang the sign on the wall at home:D

if you want to make a wild animal tame, then keep it fenced in on your property (where legal). dont expect hunters to pass on your "pet" just because you think its yours and dont get angry at the hunter that kills it if what he did was 100% legal.
