Nice, how reliable are these SKS-Ds? Are the AK mags wobbly fitting or tight in this version?
I like the look of shorter AK mags in these, although it does not address some folks desire for top mounted optics and 10rd mags, I do think they look classy.

I like this rifle and I think that the price is right.
I have another modded SKS Russian (220) with archangel stock (230) + top rail (150) = 600 $
my CZ 858 (800 $) with all the mods was close to 2,000. For that price I prefer the XCR.
Now, I'm not interested in the debate of tacticool vs. authentic: the facts are that a rifle with optic and better ergonomic is easier to use.
In case of Zombie Apocalypse each combat Multiplier would be welcome.
The real concern here is how to clean this: a Gen 2 with a easier system would have more buyers.

Lets say you want to sell your $600 SKS on the EE. What would you get for it? About half of what you've paid for the rifle and accessories?

So by your breakdown you think that Kodiak paid retail prices for their accessories and that resale prices will be high? I think if anyone buys one and doesn't like it, they'll lose half their investment as it's just a souped up SKS rifle.

Of course, the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse is the perfect criteria for buying a rifle

Kodiak is a Canadian enterprise and they have costs that you are not considering... labor?
Maybe you work for fun and glory...

This is a criteria you may dislike, on the the side, the value of an object is given by market conditions: in the case of a Zombie Apocalypse what would be the value of a working rifle?

Maybe on apocalyptic terms it would be a wash as every firearm would have unpinned mags and it would be the wild west. I can't believe you are serious about Apocalyptic values...

It's very possible that you work for free, however I still can't fathom paying $850 for an SKS. Kodiak is a manufacturer getting everything in bulk, probably molding their own metals. Did you see the $200 SKS I posted above where they machined for AK mags and added a massive markup? Numbers are out of wack. If something like that costs them that much to make, I'll show you a company that will go under in no time.

I've stated this already to all who have said great things about it, if you love it so much - BUY IT (pre-order) AND DO A REVIEW. Otherwise you are just whistling dixie.

People gotta put food on the table, machining, materials and labor aint free. You expect business owners who come up with all these innovations and take huge financial risks to put them into effect; to then turn around and sell there products for barely any financial gain ??

Well if every firearm is hand fitted or whatever and it makes it $850 retail cost due to that fact, I expect it to be a huge failure.

I invite you to buy one if you would like to help them out...

Has anyone in this thread stated that they've bought one?

If this rifle was $400 instead of $850, would you be interested in buying one?

Well then u think the whole firearms industry is a fail...

As noted by Ryan at SFRC there will be several dealers ordering these guns including our company. If it is not for many of the members here then so be it but believe me they will sell initially as all new gun models offered in Canada do well. Time will tell if they have staying power for the future at this price. So to the question that was posted earlier...yes we have bought one, several actually. Phil.

a bit more money gets a lot more gun.

For under 600 I think it'd be worth a look...at 850 I will stick with a stock SKS and suffer 5 rd reloads.

I agree with Phil above there, sure its not for everyone, and yeah its alot for an SKS but noone is thinking about how much making your own rifle similar to North Sylva's rifle would cost..... 200-250$ for rifle
120-200+ on a stock
100+ on gunsmith cut and crown and muzzle break, device of your choice
100+ on magazine adapter from company of choice
100+ on scope mounting rail from company of choice...
plus all other expenses associated, optic, or dot sight , flip irons, mags and ammo ........i'd totally be down for one for fun at the range, so hopefully they are still around by the time i can scrape the cash together :)
guys gotta quit griping...its gonna be cool, you want stock, get stock, you want fancier, get fancier and don't discriminate :p
