You have got to be kidding me....

Wonder if the top from the type 88 would fit directly or with some minor mods.

...If you already bought/have a Type 88...a $3000 gun before taxes and shipping...why are you gonna part it up and put it onto a $1000 one?

I do not think you will be able just to buy a large, major part off a Type 88 as a "stand alone".

Pre-existing cheek pads can be modified to fit and give just enough of a rise for a good cheek weld. Clob has a sight-mounting rail that should fit this gun (no guarantees as there are changes being made to the design) and then there's the RS mount as a last-ditch thing.

Eww...avoid any KEL TEC products if you shoot more then a handful of times a year on a range...do not hold up well to rough/heavy use.

There is also the Mini-14...is cheaper then this type 97 but lacks AR mags and most importantly (to most of you guys on here) it doesn't look ninja enough!!!

Not being able to use AR mags is pretty critical. After all - at $20-$60/pop, if you have a NR gun that uses AR mags, you automatically have hordes of AR owners whose interest will perk up.

As with the SU's - even being junky - they're a bit hard to come by (look in the EE this moment and tell me how many you see).

Ok... seriously, someone has to find these rails ASAP:

Really? Its called an aftermarket. Buy the part stand alone or buy an aftermarket version. A whole gun industry runs off this concept.

Real sword. It is airsoft, but they make rails like that.

I'm not sure what the deal is with everyone's hardon for optics is (omg i dun no how 2 iron sights), but if someone were to come out with a slick mount for a non-magnified optic like this for the T-97 that'd be pretty neat and nobody could ##### and moan about cheek weld.

Please tell me how easy it is to get even extra CHINESE magazines for CHINESE guns... its not easy. These are simple simple things to make and are in the highest demand and still not easy to get a hold of.

Spare parts/extra parts...LOL.

This is China we are talking about...not a well know, well off American or European gun manufacturer.

Not everything comes from China. A company like Dlask for example makes all sort of wonderful parts for guns without being in China. Reverse engineer a gun once it is here and make an aftermarket part for it.

It is not rocket science.

Nothing wrong with irons...

I find it more impressive when someone can shoot what they are aiming at with irons then their 20x scope.

Irons are usually much more durable, do not lose zero nearly as easily and your not dumping out even more money after buying the gun to purchase rings and a scope!!!

There is nothing wrong with irons and you always want to have back up irons for this kind of rifle. However it still detracts alot not being able to put some sort of optic on it to get it more accurate out to longer ranges.

And though it is more impressive I want something that works well at distance and for that you need optics

Apparently the airsoft rails come direct from china and are the "real deal" or some junk...

The airsoft guns are made at the same factory the real ones are.

Where did I learn all of this you ask? In my desperate search for a t97 rail.

Yup. EMEI logo. They make pellet and airsoft guns. And the new Type 97 NSR. That being said, they are associated to Jianshe, that place that have built guns like the Type 56 SKS, Type 56 AK, Type 53 Mosin, and other fun little guns I'm sure like the Type 81.

EDIT: I believe the RFB breaks this pattern tho

Have you actually owned any KelTec products or are you just spewing trash you heard on the internet or from someone that heard they are plastic toys? I have an RFB which is solid and even my Sub 2000 has turned out to be much better than I was expecting for a $600 rifle.

I my experience with the mini-14 I would not recommend them to anyone. I had an older one and it was the most inaccurate rifle I've ever owned. I sold it as soon as I could. The newer target version ones are much more accurate but they are heavy. Best thing I can say about them is that they are reliable but also that they are very hard on brass and NEED an adjustable gas system because they mangle brass and throw it 15-20 feet to your right when shooting so at the range people to your side at other benches will hate you. The mini-14 in my opinion is a $500 (new) rifle and you can add a little for the target version.

Don't worry Driller and anyone else that spent their money they had put aside for the T97, at the rate the RCMP move we won't be seeing this until next summer. I hope I'm wrong because I'm on a list for one and sold my AR180B which I never should have let go and I need a replacement.
If they somehow manage to get this thing out this summer there is always the good old VISA.

Fingers crossed hoping for a quick approval.

I picked up a couple of real sword mounts.

Everything that I've read points to the RS gun chassis being the same as the Type 97. In other words, Norinco builds the airsoft chassis as well.
The internals are the only difference. Airsoft geeks call this "real steel".
