Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

ATR stated it takes AR10 furniture. Don't know about the bolt. I'm guessing it's proprietey. Possibly they used a DI system more like a Hakim or other firearm in order to ensure it wasn't classified as a variant? The trigger they said was single stage match only so to me that likely rules out an AR trigger group.

For those speculating on price. I'll throw my guess into the ring. But it's only a guestimate. I'm guessing 4.5K with it reaching 5K after you upgrade stuff such as the AR10 furniture. My guestimate is based on their current AR pricing/marketting as a high end boutique company that seems to "airline" you on extras. Their top of the line AR15 is over 3K. This is a 308 and AR10's for example tend to be more than their AR15 equivalents. In this case it's a new design so they will be eager to recoup costs and they know it's not going to be a high volume product. So I'm expecting high end barrel from some well known brand, guessing Lija along with high end non AR trigger, and the receiver, along with gas system etc all in house. With the bolt, it would be cost effective to use one already available (DPMS G2 would be the best current choice) but who knows other than ATR. Stocks etc. Most likely whatever you want. PRS I predict will be most popular followed by lighter A frame carbine stocks for a more LTR style and then the odd A2.

So ya I'm guessing over 4K with 4.5K being mist likely. There's my speculatory post based on limited info. So treat it for what it is. A guess.

Probably too rich for me, but good on you guys for doing it.

Dress some up in blued steel and oiled wood stocks (ala Turnbull AR15) to win over the less fuddy fudds ;)

Realistically the xcr-m is about 3k,...i would rather pay another 1000 for something that is quality. However they keep saying This gun is not a battle rifle and that its for precision.... but they should realize that the majority of potential buyers want a non restricted high quality accurate battle 308. I hope they take this into consideration when they bring it to the market. If they do it properly it will be the scar 17 Canadians never had the opportunity to buy and will be bigger then they probably imagine.

We HEAR you and folks won't be disappointed. The key is that it is NOT a battle rifle, so will be accurate, reliable and not have some of the useless features that were forced onto the AR platforms such as dust covers and forward assist mechanisms.

So like a DPMS LR308 target rifle?

What no dust cover??????? I am out!!!!!

I kid I kid hahah. That a good thing, the lighter the better! Good on you

Rick, do you have any plans to make a switch barrel type system? I would LOVE a 22" 260rem and a 20" 308win.... If not, oh well. Just dreaming out loud.

Also will the Ver2.0 prototype be in the store for pre-release fondle sessions? Maybe further along in development?

I was getting REALLY close to dropping money on a restricted AR-10 platform, THANK GOD I found this thread!

a 308 AR like is getting custom build in BC by SA arms model Mach 2 with chioce of Shilen, Hart, Krieger or Benchmark barrels. Yap it's made in Canada.

Not really a switch barrel, but it is as easy as a barrel swap on any AR platform. We are pondering offering additional uppers in other calibers.
Once we have the final version completed and into testing it will be available to fondle and check out at the shop.
We have not ruled out

I cannot express how awesome news this is!! The whole Canadian made accurate non-restricted 308 semi-auto!! I can't wait to see pictures. I'm glad I paid off my house in March. After I get a new(er) truck, this will be my first purchase!

Please offer uppers in different calibers!! I'd like one in .308 with a 18.6" barrel & a second upper in 6.5x47 Lapua with 22" to 24" barrel. Pre-pay or deposit is not problem for me. My first set of days off after you have it in your showroom I will make the pilgrimage down to Calgary to check it out!
