I had my Blauvelt-tuned NS-522 out at the range last weekend. Once more wearing a Japanese-made BSA 24x target scope, the 522 was destroying Rolaids tablets taped to the target board at 50 yds with boring regularity. Needing a tougher challenge, I soon found one. I began shooting at the staples left behind when previous users of the range had taken down their targets. Trying to hit an ordinary staple at 50 yds with a .22 is not as easy as it sounds, and I'll freely admit that I missed one far more often than I hit one. But I did manage to hit quite a few. It is a challenge to hit them, but there are plenty of them to shoot at on our local range, and they don't cost much either. Give it a try...you might just like it!

I'm thinking we all need to email boyds stocks about getting the ns522 programmed into the stock patterns so we can have options to replace those beautiful stocks.....LOL ....https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product-request-form. I've made some trigger springs from safety pins with no additional coils, one additional coils, and two additional coils. Those with no extra coils are probably in the single digits (measured in ounces) but they don't always pass the bump test. At the moment, I don't recall which spring is in which gun(?). I should look sometime....
I got hooked with this thread from the very first week, and thought I would try to present my version of 'stock' versus 'modified' at some stage in the future.
My only problem is that the 'stock' appears to seriously good, and I am getting nervous that my modifications will prove to be marginal at best. I have purchase 20 different types of .22 LR ammo and I have a group in which all 5 shots touch at 50 yards. (I do 4x 5 shot groups at 50 yards from a bench / sandbag).
I am going to do the main modifications (raised cheek piece / pillar + glass bedding / trigger mod's) but I really wonder if I pick a rifle that shoots better than I do already!
I'll let you know sometime next year, if it works......

I started with standard safety pins. The trigger was light--too light some of the time (sometimes the rifle would fire when closing the bolt). I then started bending the safety pins and adding extra coils (I place the coil of the safety pin over the end of a pin punch and bend the pin around the punch). I did some with one, two, and maybe even three additional coils (I don't really remember--they're out there in the garage somewhere, in a plastic baggie). Those with more coils did better. I don't really know which type (2 coil, 3 coil?) is in the gun now, but the trigger feel is quite good, so I'm leaving well enough alone. That's the beauty of the safety pin trigger spring--a package of a few dozen pins costs three or four bucks, and it takes all of 10 minutes to turn out several of each style of spring (2 coil, 3 coil, etc).

because was too good to be true, "for me".
The NS522 has pillar and glass bedding, following the instructions of this great thead ,(thank you very very much), I didnt touch the trigger...yet
10 shots, 50 mts, Winchester 333, Ns522, Scope 6x18x50 bushnell banner, front support Caldwell "the rock deluxe", Rear sand bag, wind about 15km/h
